Cynicism and Resentment? It's no wonder why I don't like politicians. The crazy thing is that doublespeak is no longer not only verbal.

No doublespeak needed today. Today's society are unquestioning followers of media and social media. They are told how to think, how to feel and how to respond. And we do. None of us are immune or exempt, we are conditioned.

Everyone should read (or watch the doc.) "Manufacturing Consent" by Noam Chomsky. This is a huge part of what he talks about.

"Assault weapons" immediately comes to mind

A perfect example is "Trickle Down" to cause public attention to turn to what is up there (a LOT of wealth), what of it comes down (a trickle), how it comes down (irregularly), and to whom it comes down. The term distracts everyone from how almost all of our collective wealth ever gets so far up there to begin with, in our "Flood Up" U.S. economy.

Ever read the book 1984 by George Orwell. Doublethink is exactly the same concept used in that book except with thinking. Great book and highly relevant to todays society despite being written over 60 years ago.
