Years ago, I did a session with a woman, that changed my life. IFS has a theory about unattached burdens or the others within us, but until I worked with this woman, I had no idea how significant they could be, and like most of us, I preferred to ignore the phenomenon.

Once I dug into this area, it became clear that UBs are fairly common occurrences and often have profound effects on people and their lives and sometimes on the lives of others around them.

Because most IFS therapists did not want to get involved in this area, I have received many referrals and gained much experience. As I have learned more and more, I have been able to flesh out the basic IFS understandings into a more fully developed pragmatic method that relieves human suffering. This method is learnable and of practical value, and I teach it step-by-step in this book.
