Speaker issues: buzz and rattle with bass repair on Paradigm Atom V2

2019-12-24に共有
My surround sound rear speakers recently developed an unwanted rattle/buzz during bass. Watch as I locate the problem (it was the foam outer edges of the midbass drivers), and fix the issue (had to refoam).
All music was created using Apple GarageBand.

0:00 - 0:21: Intro
0:22 - 3:17: Well… These have a bit of a problem…
3:17 - 9:20: Troubleshooting and foam rot explanation.
9:21 - 10:00: A funny coincidence: exact 20 year repair!
10:01 - 15:50: The repair process
15:51 - 16:42: Final testing and outro.

  • Wow, just realized I left the metronome in my intro music! I have to get that fixed! I’m not using that intro anymore anyways, it was too bass heavy.

I have a 1997 Atom speaker with the same problem. Can you share the size of the foam ring it takes and where I could buy this?

Thanks man, I have a PDR 10 which just tore. I just need to find the foam and glue for it in Canada. They are made here so it shouldn't be hard.
  • Hmm wonder if I can do this to my earbuds which are discontinued.
