Dan Forrest is a genius, and the BYU Choirs do a magnificent job performing his pieces.

Just wishing I could just skip to Christmas time to hopefully escape all the problems were facing
  • @susansalgy5858
I was there when they recorded this performance. It was magical. Forrest did something perfect with the urgency of the strings pushing that movement forward underneath the majestic and familiar chords. It conveys the feeling that something huge is happening, just over the hill, and you should drop whatever you were doing and come run with us to see it. The joy on the faces of some of these young singers is unforgettable.

A truly gifted composer/arranger whose understanding of layering textures is masterful. The final key change half way through final verse brings on the goosebumps. Bravo arrangement!

Still the most beautiful piece of Christian music I've ever heard. And I'm an orthodox Jew.
  • The dancing of the melody between vocal parts is exquisite. The complexity an dissonance creating both familiarity and newness. Dan Forest, you rock sir!
  • @gordonsdatter
We sing a SSAA arrangement of this as the finalie of our Idaho Falls Choralaires Christmas concert annually. I can't sing or hear it without getting goosebumps.
  • @DrTerminus
I absolutely love this arrangement! The fog and dreariness of 2:00 a.m. insomnia dissipates as I am briefly lifted up to the company and voices of angels.
  • @carstenschuette
This is the best arrangement of this song i've ever heard, indescribably beautiful!
  • @danielab.5642
I turned the volume up to the highest setting , I sat back and watched and listened to this majestic performance. The arrangement is awesome. Celestial. Thank you!
  • @commandert5
I must say, the string line is my favorite part of this arrangement. It was amazing to be in the chorus when we did this with the RPO a few months ago. Truly a grand piece.
  • @joelhall5124
Thanks for this. Every year I share it for my Christian friends at Christmas. Beautiful arrangement.

My all time arrangement of this hymn.  My choir is too small to perform it, but I think this is exquisite and so uplifting.
  • Amazing guys!!! I'm a horn player and the intonation is fantastic! Very great job!
