We can make anything out of mycelium. Spoons, rocket ships, undead biodegradable robots... You name it.

This is an awesome new discovery, along with the recent studies using psychedelics for trauma patients. I truly believe we are beginning to scratch the surface to all the benefits and contributions mycelium can change ways we tackle problems.

please tell me this is real and its still a thing and you havent been discouraged because its clearly worth investing in and the world needs you to keep pushing this

If someone could come up with fungus-based materials to replace house insulation and the gunk you put in house slits/cracks, that would be some major accomplishments.

Imagine in the future: Suits made of genetically modified mycelium, regrowing in seconds rather than days. Computer stimuli can direct them to perform any type of growth- shedding, filling damage, thickening into armor, breaking down internally stored materials to administer needed nutrients to wounds etc

When you tell someone "we grow mycelium" and they're like "what is that?" it's clear they've never played Minecraft.

imagine building a house, and after rain season, your house starts non stoppable growing that locks you inside , or grow extra floor above the ceiling

I grow this stuff for my raised beds. It's broadband for the garden.
  • I’ve been reading about the work of Paul Stamets and others like him since I was a teenager. I’ve always known that mushrooms could hold the future for our species but when I chose architecture as my profession I was supremely let down by my professors who had no idea what u was talking about. I explained to them that we could grow houses and they looked at me like I was crazy. The construction industry is responsible for 1/3rd of global carbon emissions. This has to change and this is one of the ways we change it. Architecture is a multidisciplinary science and we need to set higher standards for those in school for this profession, the future of out species and all species depend upon it. PS because I took all these “unrelated” classes I’ve run out of student aid money. I quite literally can’t Finnish my degree because I chose to educate myself in more areas than required because I though the bar of expectation should be higher.
