Our criminal justice system is running like how most schools handle bullying: ignore or downplay the bullies, but punish the victims for standing up for themselves.
-
With no stores to steal from, people are next
-
To be honest, its not the NY crime closing this mall. Its the NY government not willing to do anything to stop the crime.
-
The Westfield Mall closed in downtown San Francisco over two years ago. We used to travel to the city to go to that mall. What a sad development in this ghetto world!
-
Isn’t it incredible that stealing in broad daylight in front of hundreds of people is no longer an arrestable crime. Astonishing.
-
Trying to sue a tenant for leaving , due to crime is insane.
-
The city has reverted to how it was in the '70's.

As someone who is not from the US but visited NYC recently, can any US citizen help me understand why the law sympathizes with the criminals instead of the victims? We have tough laws and high enforcement rate which is why where I lived is so safe and comfortable.
-
I like how they blur out the criminals in the video. Wouldn't want people to be able to identify the perpetrators.
-
Remember, Mayor Adams said " New York has a Brand, the city has a Brand" Yeah it's CRIME!

When my daughter was 10 she took a lipstick tester from a shop. She thought it was gratis you can take for free. The security of the shop called police, the officers came and drew up a report, the report was sent to juvenile court, I had police and case workers coming to my house to conduct interviews with me. After 6 months the court finally discontinued the proceedings but it was stressful as hell. We live in Poland.

Theft, shoplifting & many other stealing crimes, are no longer being heavily prosecuted by District Attorneys Office in NYC. Due to new laws like Bail Reform. Which was designed to assist people in affordable ways of fighting their case. Instead people have taken to more theft crimes, using the new laws as a “get out of jail card.”
-
All the police presence in the world makes no difference if DA's and judges let criminals back out onto the street the same day that they are arrested.
-
What a shock. When you stop prosecuting quality of life crimes, quality of life goes down
-
Thank you doing the journalism and reporting that stopped 4 years ago from the MSM
-
Why is it when I see police on a site doing security detail in a building, the cops are standing together in groups of 3 or 4 talking amongst themselves, talking , laughing, and not even aware of the surroundings.. shouldn't they be spread out 20 feet and looking at all people within sight???
-
The design of the mall is not the reason it has a crime problem. The city is allowing crime with no ramifications.
-
That’s not shoplifting, that’s robbing.
-
We use to be allowed to take matters into our own hands. Now if we are to intervene we are charged with assault, fired from the job, or arrested instead. Its a joke
-
So the Oculus was designed to make it easier to catch a thief but the Fulton Center was designed to make it easy for people to get in and out which makes stealing easier for thieves.
