now let all 4 musicians come together: One who didnt hear bass, one who didnt hear drums, one who didnt hear guitar and a singer and lets see what we get.
  • @mrgerbik
awesome. love this series, the only note i could offer is please put the bassist's name in the title. i get that charlie puth is there for the clickbait, but "charlie puth's bassist Philip Chuah" would work just as well
  • @rickadias
13:57 that's the correct face you should make while listening to that part of the song. 10/10
  • @JBrm
Not only a killer bassist, he also seems like a guy everyone likes to play with. AND he listens to the arrangement before he shreds around. True professional.
  • I LOVE these "bassist hears artist for the first time" episodes!!! Keep up the series!
  • These are so cool! So glad he gave credit to Tim’s MASSIVE stingray tone! It’s one of the best stingray tones in history
  • Man this guy is insanely articulate and talented. Seems like a great musician to work with.
  • @Furozi
10:23 Tim's bass tone is so powerful that they couldn't even mute it completely
  • Phil, you really killed it harder than anyone else doing these challenges. That tone man.....holy crap you sound good.
  • I've watched all of these videos and I have come to the conclusion that I have to do this with my friends. It is totally a great exercise to understand not only your own music style, but getting used to breaking down and understanding music on a deeper level. Plus, a great way to share amazing songs.

FINALLY there is a for the first time series for bass!!! I've been waiting for a channel to come by and do this for us Thank you SBL!
  • When the 1st Rage album came out I locked myself in my bedroom and didn't come out till I could play it front to back. A band I was in back in the mid 90s we did the whole 1st album for a set one night at a local Philly bar except we did Killing in the Name after Freedom. When that d rings out at the end we would flow directly into Killing

What a smart bassist. I’ll let the kick and snare dictate and I will bring my sound down. Something a guitarists never said.
  • @CzarOfMars
So fun! Philip's take was really inspired, immediately capturing the spirit of the song while coming up with some fun new spins on it. And then the appreciation for the original track, pointing out some things that make it great was really insightful as well.
  • @sean78745
Dude is actually fading out his own volume in real time 8:52 what a legend
  • Favorite show from this channel. Not only for the outstanding playing, but to get to know these bassists. Love it
  • @That_many_watts
Not sure why everyone thinks it’s unbelievable for him not to have heard this song. He knew it was RAtM but besides rock fans this is probably isn’t something he normally would listen to.
