Artificial intelligence is here to stay, and YouTube is rolling out a new disclaimer for creators in YouTube Studio. Starting soon, you'll be required to acknowledge if your video is using AI or not. Is this a good first step at preventing misinformation? What can we expect from AI videos in the future?

  • I know people don't like TTS voices, but another thing to consider is that there are many mute (as in unable to speak) aspiring content creators who massively benefit from this technology, allowing them to somewhat overcome a restriction that everyone else doesn't have nor considers.
  • Amazon is doing the same thing for booksellers. The problem will be when Amazon/ YouTube will erroneously punish/censor/demonetize content not using AI
  • @twogallons
the terminator gonna copyright strike my video soon enough😭
  • And this shows how A.I. can be a great thing that helps us, but it only takes a few bad idiots to mess it up for all of us.

I didn't think the use of AI was dying down, but the frequency of it's mention and appearance in the mainstream would. It started somewhere in 2022, what I thought was its peaking in 2023 within discussion in the art community, but it seems AI is only getting worse or more widespread.
  • @isaiahvoss
It's like 2001: A Space Odyssey, Terminator, and The Matrix predicted it all. Open the podbay doors HAL... you'll have to see The Matrix for itself.
  • @cryspbytes1037
I’m an artist and I made a promise to myself that I would never use ai for any help with my art, to do any of my class work, or to cut any corners. If I ever did use ai it would only be for short periods of entertainment from messing around with it. I hope others do the same
  • Transparency is not the problem, the problem is misconception. Not every content made with AI is made BY AI. If a human edits and puts together everything, it's human-made content. But because of the misconception, there is the assumption that an AI tagged video must mean there's no person behind the content. To put them all in one box is dumb.

there should be a new rule that makes it so that anyone using ai must say that they're using ai whether it's in the description, a pinned comment, or in the video itself
  • @ayogh2435
Half of the comment section hasn't watched the video, or even read the title properly. No. Youtube isn't using AI. Watch the video. It's very clear.
  • @NukeOTron
Uh... YouTube DOES know that "altered content" could also mean YTPs, and not just AI-generated content, right?
  • @RJS2003
It's great to know that YouTube is so far taking all this AI stuff in the right direction. Users legally being obligated to disclose whether or not a video is AI generated/has AI elements and being punished or flagged for being dishonest is an objectively good decision no matter how you slice it. It won't fix everything but hey, it's a good start off to the long and arduous road ahead.
  • @otaking3582
If people can't already tell when AI is being used, they have bigger problems.
  • In the words of Clay Puppington from Moral Orel season 1 episode 3 "Charity"... what.
  • You know what I’m gonna make a video saying the beauty of no artrical intelligence
