Episode Notes:

1. Captured on a Mega SG.

2. There is a SNES game called Tony Toon Adventures Buster Busts Loose! that is completely different.

3. This game was not released in Japan.

4. To date, this has never been reissued on anything.

5. Konami pulled the 4 megabit cart with Sunset Riders as well. It resulted in less content than the SNES version, which was double the size.

6. Konami also did Tiny Toon Adventures: ACME All-Stars, a sports game that featured multiple activities for the Sega Genesis.

I love how diverse this game's settings are and how awesome its music is. Glad you finally covered it, it's so underrated. It offers a huge adventure, it has a big map with plenty of various levels with branching paths, amazing music and just about a perfect platformer gameplay experience. Sure the backgrounds are flat, it doesn't have Contra: Hard Coprs-levels of crazy effects, but then again, this game doesn't need to look too busy. It's perfect as it is. Konami never disappointed on the Genesis.

Never had a Genesis growing up but had a cousin that visited every summer and would bring his genesis and this game. So many fond memories, this game rocks
  • @davea8487
Remember completing this as a kid, that chase level with Elmyra at the end still haunts me
  • @Unquestionable
Getting a deeper appreciation for overlooked games is one of my favorite things about the 16 bit era. I remember dabbling a bit with the Tiny Toons games on while visiting friends/relatives and despite never having an urge to own them found them to be very solid titles.
  • @Yuuretsu
This was one of the first Megadrive games I ever got and it still holds up today. The game could have been fleshed out more on a bigger cart but what is there is very solid.
  • @DeadnWoon
Finally, one of the greatest atmospheric multi-path games!

This game is one of my favorites as a kid and it’s still fun to play now. I didn’t know it was a hidden gem, so glad I still have my childhood cartridge.

This did not slip between the cracks. It was amazing. Loved every second of it as a young boy.
  • I loved the cartoon, and rented this one quite a few times when it came out. I also cant understand why this title isnt held in a higher regard. Thanks for reviewing this one, I've asked you more than one.
  • @Deifron
This is one of my all time favorite game ever, gameplay and music is by far one of the best of genesis

Game''s got that distinct Konami sound to it, very Rocket Knight Adventures instruments. But it probably got overlooked because in a time where there were so many big and inventive new games, a very safe licensed platformer probably just flew under the radar despite it showing that safe isn't necessarily bad by any means.
  • @MerelyAFan
Two licensed games for Genesis & SNES from the same property that not only are very solid but also distinct from each other, and which still largely hold up today. All while also putting out pretty good NES Tiny Toons games at the same time. That tells you just how good Konami was in this period.

The nostalgia is real with this one. What a tour de force of brilliant gameplay design here. The world map alone has whispers of Dark Souls caliber interconnectivity
  • I loved this game. I actually have a copy sitting in my basement that's never been opened because my parents didn't communicate with each other and got me two copies for Christmas, lol. I never could get past the Elmira boss fight/chase. I'm surprised nobody ever talks about this game because it was super polished and fun.

Still have my copy when I bought mine when I was a small kid... This was like my super Mario Bros with the big open world map and boss battles and secret levels.
  • @SteveBrandon
I enjoyed Buster's Hidden Treasure a lot when I rented it back in the day and then, roughly 20 years later, I picked it up at a Value Village (a.k.a. Savers) thrift store along with Rocket Knight Adventures back when they'd still put Sega Genesis games on the racks instead of putting them in the glass "Showcase" and charging about $10 Canadian too much for them. My copy of Buster's Hidden Treasure is the Konami Classics version that was made in Mexico using Acclaim cartridges with a Konami sticker over the Acclaim logo on the back. Fortunately, it's still the clamshell version, not the cardboard box version.
  • @stickyman05
This is one of the <10 games I had on my genesis. It was, and still is, a stupid hard game. The farthest I ever got in one sitting was the waterfall levels. Those caves did me in almost every time. Thanks for the trip down memory lane SLX. P.s. the wood elevator level can suck my kiss.
  • @iam16bits
Now there's a real hidden gem. This was one of the first Genesis games I got along with Sonic 3 and Toy Story.
  • @PoisonousPen
Got this for my 8th birthday, March 94 and it was an amazing game! 😄 My friends and I played it to death. Great memories, great to see it getting some love!
  • This was a great alternative to the snes game. Man we need that Tiny Toons revival. If Animaniacs can get one so can TT.
