  • Fun fact. This was never a shanty, instead this was a poem. A child had taken his first life, killed someone for the first time, and he was in shock but his mother praised him. He then spoke this poem. Roughly this, though, as this version isn't a direct translation, adjusted slightly to work better as a song. But yeah, for those curious about the origin, that's the origin story! Edit: It's from the Saga of Egil Skalagrimson, which is extra info I learned from the comments! Thank you everyone!

Im an Apache, Cherokee, and Mohawk son. The cultures of the vikings and the native americans are so different and yet so similar. Im captivated at the fact that hundreds of years ago our peoples once interacted and even had mutual respect for each other in most instances. Even today, I see comments all the time of natives and people of Norse descent praising each other and admiring each others cultures and how much we really have in common. I love this song and Im amazed at this rendition of it.
  • She can sing, she can play any instrument, she can act and cosplay. We must protect her at all costs.
  • @aazat581
    - На каких инструментах ты умеешь играть ? - Ну всего не перечислить, вот не давно научилась играть на черепе кошки
  • "I'm an independant musician" - "Cool, what instrument do you play?" "Drums, hurdy gurdy, cat, tegelharp...."
  • 2 years later and I still think this is one of the best cover versions around.
  • @AlvinSimon92
i can feel the natural and native music and i see why the Vikings did it this way. it makes you feel pride, and that can make you powerful back in those days. well played
  • @mbzeppa
"Hey, I want to bring my cousin to the next Viking jam session" "Sure, what instrument to they play?" "A skull"
  • A raven, a cat, and a protection rune, interesting spell work she has going in that song. "We watch, we hear her callings, we shall be not far from you." Once from the old ways, always from the old ways.

My mother told me Someday I will buy Galley with good oars Sail to distant shores Stand up on the prow Noble barque I steer Steady course to the haven Hew many foe-men
  • Anyone else notice how her eye makeup becomes more "runny" as the song progresses?
  • @Mushroombaddie4
Ok but why is the whispering demonic voice so good 😭❤
