Whether it's a test or the real thing, many rely on the sirens to warn them. So how are they actually triggered? Heather Brown finds out.

    I remember a Friday night during the Cuban Missal Crisis when the sirens went off. Very scary since we lived in an expected target area. They still give me the chills sometimes.

    I remember in the late 60s when I was young, we lived near a siren in Minnetonka and I used to take my dad's shortwave headset and cover my ears during the monthly tests!

    Even though tornado sirens are a great resource… it’s really meant for people outdoors. Have multiple ways of getting alerts… for example: NOAA Weather Radio, Phones, weather apps, local media, etc. so when a tornado warning is issued, you still get an alert and you can take shelter! Every home, business & school should have a NOAA Weather Radio, the more weather radios out there in homes, businesses & schools… the more lives we can save

    What they don't know is that first shot of the siren sounding had a second one in it. that rocket-shaped thing on the tower itself is another siren that was probably replaced

    When I activated the sirens in Elmore with the weather warn software, the system failed to send data to the DTMF encoders, so I had to override the system.

    I’m been there is 20 sirens everywhere there’s like an I saw this one and could show you the video but I don’t I forgot with a channel name is and Thunderbolt siren and went for a really long and it was for no emergency
