Thanks to the hard work of glitch hunters like merrp and Sleipnir17, we now have FULL ACCESS to Arbitrary Code Execution in Pokemon Emerald. merrp originally discovered the use of Pokemon 0x0611 to do ACE in the game, and it completely turned the speedrun upside down. Since then, Sleipnir has developed an insane library of codes to do basically anything you can imagine. These glitches let you unlock mystery gift events, respawn legendaries, change your TID\SID, manipulate the RNG, teleport anywhere, and MUCH MUCH MORE.

You can find merrp's original documentation on their pastebin:

You can find all Sleipnir's codes on his pastebin:

Subscribe to Sleipnir's YouTube channel as well, this was an insane amount of effort and he deserves literally all the credit.

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone associated with Glitch City Labs for their work on this game over the years. I couldn't possibly thank everyone, but at the very least I can make more people aware of what's possible in this incredible game.

  • *NEW UPDATED GUIDE* : https://youtu.be/45kwOEhKbUg *IF HATCHING EGG DOES NOTHING OR CRASHES THE GAME* Did you make sure your Boxes 11-14 are empty? Also make sure to type all the spaces, and double check your lefty\righty quotes, as well as zero vs Capital O, and 1s or lowercase Ls. Sleipnir also mentioned something about Pokemon Box, or Transferring to Gen 4. Apparently Pal Park/Box leaves some ghost data in the boxes. It appears you can clear the ghost data (which should only matter in boxes 11-14) by filling up the boxes with Pokemon, saving, moving the Pokemon out of the boxes, and saving again. If that doesn't work, your EV spread on DOTS might have gotten messed up. Has happened to me before... I've done 16 HP / 7 Atk. instead of the correct 17 HP / 6 Atk Also check your DOTS and make sure it didn't catch Pokerus during training. Pokerus doubles EV gains from battle, so that would lead to an incorrect egg. For safety, only battle with DOTS using Pokemon who DON'T have Pokerus, so it doesn't spread to him.

It’s crazy how such a small oversight with the Pomeg Berry led to Emerald being busted wide open. I might have to give this a go at some point.

I spent about 1 hour and a half doing all the steps and finally hatched the egg correctly and captured mew. I also went ahead duplicated the egg and did birth island and navel rock. It’s so cool that anyone can do this glitch and finally have access to something we were suppose to have in the first place

I usually never comment on YT vids, but I really felt that I had to share just how significant the discovery of this glitch is to me personally. Its a bit of a read, but the tl;dr is that this glitch allows me to get a Pokemon I was never able to as a child and I am beyond grateful for that... Back when I was a child, I had collected every Pokemon in Emerald that could be obtained legitimately. I had literally every single Pokemon except event exclusives. I managed to get the Toys R Us Wishmaker CD for Jirachi as well as a Mew from Mall of America. Other than Celebi (Whom had never had an official US release at that point) I had all 385 Pokemon on my Emerald cartridge, all except for one: Deoxys. My parents were divorced growing up and I lived with my mother when the Deoxys event was announced. Despite my father not living with us he had promised to take me to get Deoxys event, which back then was the only possible way to get one. Long story short, my parents got into an argument and my dad cancelled the plan of taking me to get Deoxys. As dumb as it may sounds to admit, this was an incredibly traumatic event for me and one that completely devastated me at the time. For years I hoped there might be some other way to get Deoxys. I tried everything I could find on any and all Pokemon forums on the internet. I even maxed out my in-game clock to 999:99 and beat the Elite 4 over 100 times because the was a rumor that if you did that you could go to the Mossdeep Space Center and get Deoxys. Again a ridiculous thing to share, but hopefully it shows just how desperate I was to get one and how badly I wanted there to be some other way. Fast forward to a couple of years ago when I watched a video of the Pomeg glitch and saw somebody use it to warp to Faraway island. I thought this glitch had potential, but that it was too specific and not documented well enough to truly get event items. Ever a purist, I still wished that I didn't have to just warp to Deoxys and could actually experience the event as intended, with no GameShark and with the actual event item in-tow. I know there will be those that thumb their nose at the thought of glitches, those that see it all as cheating regardless, and honestly I had been that way for the longest time. However, now that I and these games are much older, I've come to the point where I've relaxed my personal belief as to what constitutes "cheating" and "legitimacy" as far as Pokemon and video games in general are concerned. Games are ultimely meant to be enjoyed, and as long you're enjoying yourself that's all that really matters. Also, the fact is that there really is zero difference between an event Pokemon generated in this way compared to getting one from a real event, other than one of these methods requiring a time machine lol. I know this is really long comment and kudos if you've read it through to the end. This may just seem like a neat little arbitrary gIitch of a long outdated game to most, but it is so much more than that to me. I cannot fully put into words how much it means to me to be able to take that same cartridge from all those years ago and finally get that event Deoxys that, for so long, I had felt fate had cheated from me. Bless the absolute geniuses within the Pokemon community for their continued dedication in finding exploits like this one, and bless you for making this simple to understand video tutorial. Truly, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

As a former Pokémon gen 1 speedrunner I know how hard it can be to explain RNG manip, overflow and all that. This tutorial explains everything in a simple yet effective manner. That alone deserves a subscription
  • @KamonXV
Its Honestly Amazing how the older pokemon games (Especially 1,3 and 4) are so hilariously unstable that it loops back to being incredibly cool
  • @Abef
If you're getting an Egg instead of Bad Egg but it has a premier ball keep going. It took me about 12 resets, 3 of those had premier ball dots instead of Nest ball/pkrus Dots. You need to have the Nest ball for it to work.
  • @YourGameSucks
The furthest into RNG manipulation I ever got was manipulating shinies and then duplicating them. Seeing this is mindblowing. Amazing video. Very insightful.
  • It blows my mind how as a community we can explore these games in ways that seem impossible. Thanks for making this video!
  • @jackdorsey7820
This vid is fantastic, perfectly in-depth, goes over everything relating to the glitch and more, links, etc.
  • @nikinovski
The work of the Pokemon community puts is brilliant. The 8 year old kid that was me 16 years ago would never believe this, but he is so thankful.
  • This video is literally blowing my mind. Thank you so much for explaining everything so clearly and thoroughly while still being concise. Also the video was really well edited, too. I can’t wait to try this out on my copy of Emerald!!!
  • @Mitsunee_
huge shoutout for showing sources for your information and showing how to clean up the glitchmons, as well as saying which boxes to keep clean. I was hoping there'd be a way to do this on a regular savegame without corrupting too much the moment pomeg glitch got found/popularized and I'm very happy with this tutorial. Will keep a bookmark for when I do one day decide to do my casual Emerald 100% playthrough :)
  • @Sreemingturtle
This is great, I always wanted to get into ACE, but it was a little complicated to understand by myself. Thanks for the through instructions, excited to try it on my own!
  • @zeltech5243
Wow! Ngl this probably one of the best made Pokémon rng videos I've ever seen. Editing was flawless. Love how you left out no details, but didn't drag or over explain things. So far this is probably the closest thing to the actual event. And it has the least amount of risk of corrupting your save. Because you're not using random corruption to unlock the event triggers. Wow masterfully executed, have to tip my hat off to you Jefé.
  • @jamiemckell34
I read this stuff before, and got confused.. you presented it in such an easy to digest way! Thank you!
  • @Sleipnir17
Thanks for the kind words =) And yeah, you need box 12, 13, 14 and the last few slots of box 11 (I usually say the last row even though you actually need less than that) to be empty
  • @Tropictopic69
Just watched the full video. The amount of work it must have taken to first figure this out is insane. Thanks to everyone involved
  • These games were really held together by pieces of string and I love it! Might wanna dig up my Gameboy from my parent's attic and try this
  • Eventough I’m not planning to this myself, I really enjoyed every single second of this video! Your explanation was so clear and it’s really cool to see how much knowledge you have of this game! ❤️
