Zootopia is great! And Disney seems to know that, as they've added additional content to play alongside their movie's runtime with Zootopia+ on DisneyPlus! Of course I know it as Zootropolis and Zootropolis+ but it acts as a great installment to further flesh out the worldbuilding of this incredible world. With 5 episodes focused on side characters like Weaselton, the Mafia Boss Mr Big and those slow slow sloths again. And all of it culminates into a great piece of fan service we can call Disney's Zootopia+ SPIN-OFF Series...

...I am in love with the concept of Rodentia now. Why do I want a full-on successor to Zootropolis? Give me more backstory to how the city was created! I never realised I wanted

  • Can't lie, very disappointed Nick and Judy's career as buddy cops wasn't explored. I would love to see a series about them investigating various cases together throughout Zootopia. Those were the best parts of the movie for me, they have a great dynamic.
  • Mr. Big's story is oddly wholesome, at first glance you could probably think "Oh, he was an innocent young lad, then he killed a man, and then developed a thirst for blood." But he was actually trying to help out his community, defend the ones who couldn't defend themselves by unifying the community. That is what makes his story so wholesome and so unique

There are a couple ideas for a second season (not based on Zootopia 2). Any six will do: - Gideon Grey's life between bullying Judy as a kid and meeting her again as an adult. - Nick's mother working her tail off to buy Nick a scout uniform (sad we know how that ends) - Major Friedkin training ZPD cadets. - The daily life of Yax and The Mystic Spring Oasis. - The Ottertons (before Emmitt went missing) - Bellwether's early life/descent into villainy/her villainous actions behind the scenes explored. - Lionheart & Dr. Madge in jail. - Jerry Jumbeaux's Cafe. - Finnick. Just anything about Finnick.

I absolutely love the fact that we get to see "Duke from Weasel Town" It's such a great reference to "The Duke from Weselton" that Elsa and Anna keep calling "Duke of Weasel Town" in Frozen
  • This show was just a lot of fun. The animation is still great, and the stories are all pretty enjoyable. I especially loved "The Godfather of the Bride." Mr. Big's rise to power through growing the community was really interesting, as was seeing Zootopia in the olden days.
  • The only criticism i have for the show is that it's a limited series. Which is quite a letdown since I wanted to see more backstories and viewpoints of the characters.

I love the different shorts that were presented in Zootopia+, and how each short focuses on a different minor character from the film, but hands down my favorites ones are the ones centering on Mr. Big’s Backstory and The Dinner Date with Flash the Sloth.
  • Anyone else notice that at 10:56 the ice they’re about to shred is the rhino they just iced? Kinda dark but totally fits the mob esthetic.

I actually LOVED the The Real Rodents of Little Rodentia episode, it was SO funny to me! And that pretty sweet ending where Fru Fru comes to her senses after nearly dying, I'll be honest made me tear up a little bit. It's really nice.

Certainly I couldn't be the only one who feels incredibly gaslit by every instance of Zootopia being Zootropolis instead. I scrolled down into the comments and there was NO MENTION OF THIS and everyone was saying ZOOTOPIA and I refuse to believe that I have somehow lost my mind

I have to admit, this is one of the few Disney+ spinoffs that works, yet, I cannot help but feel this is basically a rehash of Lion King 1 1/2, of giving the secondary or background character their own content, however, is still subject to the main plot and story of the parent film. Yet this is better than Lion King 1 1/2, Zootopia+ is creativity is top drawer, it has an imaginative mix of superb animation, comedy, backstory, and details, I do hope for more Zootopia content in the future, it's rather impressive that Disney has not forgotten it.

The funniest part of Mr. Big's episode is that they...literally crossed a puddle. Even at the size of an Arctic shrew, a puddle is no ocean. And that's the hilarity of it all.
  • @fluffcake
Mr. Big’s backstory was really interesting, lore episodes are really fascinating and this one did just that and also much more by establishing other cool little details and telling a wholesome story as well. So good!!!
  • 11:22 Mr Big is 100% a reference to Al Capone. While he wasn’t exactly the nicest guy around, he is the reason we have modern day soup kitchens. Dude advocated for helping the community and taking care of your neighbors. It’s a very strong parallel that I really appreciate Disney for referencing!
  • @Ectolotl
The Mr. Big episode actually won an Annie for best voice acting in TV, thanks to Mr. Big's actor Maurice LaMarche. He's very talented.
  • @googamp32
I loved this spin-off! It was so fun to see more of the world of one of my favorite modern Disney movies!
  • @scring.e
    BRITISH OTTER??!? SHE’S AUSTRALIAN 😭😭😭
  • @Mediados
I like how for children, Weaselton becoming a surgeon sounds great. Meanwhile we adults know that's called god damn organ harversting.
  • I honestly thought Zootopia (as it was released for me) was going to branch out more when it came out. They introduced such a big world with interesting characters. I at least execpted a cop like show with Judy and Nick solving basic but entertaining crimes, exploring more of the city while they did it. I really enjoyed all of these episodes expect for the gazelle one since im tired of talent shows personally. On one side there was so much potential but disney does have a history of bad spinoffs that lose it one way or another. Id love to see more from this series and any other shows you chose to review
  • I really loved Duke the Musical, the song is so catchy, it's a shame Disney didn't care that much about it. And as you mentioned in the video, I found the choreography in that episode, especially on Duke, so lovely.
