EarthBound, like most RPGs, has rare item drops from enemies. While most of them can just be bought in stores or found in presents, hunting for all these items has become a popular challenge among Mother fans. What are the rarest drops, though? That’s why in this video which may or may not be the same thing I made years ago, I explain to you all what I believe are the hardest items to find in EarthBound are.

I got a cookie from a Spiteful Crow. I am the luckiest man in existence
  • Honestly, the Gutsy Bat should have been found in the Sea of Eden, its basically worthless at the point you get it in the game.
  • You missed an opportunity to call each of these the 3rd rarest item drop
  • Here’s a tip: When hunting for the Sword of Kings, use the times you get into a double Starmen battle as a PP farm. By that I mean set up a shield and PSI Magnet away to restore tons of PP. I recommend having Poo as your main healer because he can restore PP with Magnet unlike Ness.
  • your voice is the way I’d expect Jeff’s to sound. Not a bad thing tho
  • The sad thing about the player's guide saying it came from the Sea of Eden was the fact that one of the screenshots show Ness IN the sea and having the bat in the inventory.

How to get all these rare items with no time or effort: C H E A T S
  • I remember I was just doing a normal play through, choosing for the sword of kings to be my only item drop to try and get. Right after I got it I unintentionally encountered a star man super and got the sword of kings immediately after my first sword of kings drop. Then I got the gutsy bat without even knowing anything about its rarity or existence, and after watching this I feel like the luckiest person alive.
  • Just yesterday I was playing and got the Gutsy Bat not knowing it is that rare 😆
  • Here is my favorite part of magicant: flying man getting one shot from the first enemy I fight because it throws a super bomb at him

I had the broken antenna the rest of the game and was annoyed I couldn't throw it away. It was just taking up space. Not all of Jeff's items are that useful, but I am really glad I keep the broken bazooka that becomes the heavy bazooka and the broken trumpet that, weirdly, becomes the defense up spray. Both of those substantially increase Jeff's usefulness in general

I specifically remember hunting krakens in the sea of eden looking for the Gutsy bat, and never knew that they were dropped by that Bionic Kraken. I've seriously played through Earthbound about 7 times in my life now, and out of those 7 times, i've encountered maybe 5 total Bionic Krakens.

I actually got the magic fry pan after over 10 attempts. (Literally. I actually got it.)
  • One strategy I always enjoyed using while looking for the sword of kings was to have poo copy the recharge robots that heal each other. That way you can heal the party basically indefinitely.
  • My first playthrough I went out of my way to get all the max ATK/DEF equips. Hoo boy that was an experience. Turns out you farm for a gaia beam, sword of kings, goddess ribbon... and THREE STAR PENDANTS
  • 1:36 these rules are really redundant 1. not buyable from stores 2. not findable as present 3. only dropped by enemies you.. only really need the third rule, it essentially acts as all 3 other rules, because if something follows rule 3, it by definition cant be buyable/findable so rule 1/2 are not needed
  • I had the Earthbound players guide. I was trying to get the Gutsy Bat for 25 years in the Sea of Eden. I found out the guide was wrong last week.
