  • Drop a like for more Clone Wars / Battle Breakdown videos! Link to the space battle game being played in the description!
  • General, our tactical droid indicates incoming republic forces will "get bodied" by our superior firepower.
  • "Just have the goddam ship self destruct. Collect their light sabers in space. Add them to your collection" Ah, priorities
  • Grievous: You fool! I have been trained in your Star Wars tactics, by CoUnT dOoKu!
  • @noahb2699
Using EAW mods to simulate the battle is a fantastic idea for this series
  • I always find it irritating that NEITHER SIDE launched any fighters during the battle.

Let's be perfectly honest here: trying to analyse the tactics of Clone Wars episodes is usually a pointless exercise because unless the strategy was central to the plot (an example being the battle above Ryloth), the logic of the battle will simply boil down to which side has the plot armour.

2003 Grievous: Unstoppable General, tactical genius and an exceptional Jedi killer who have succeeded in besting many Jedi Padawans, Knights and even Masters, with clever use of fear tactics and the use of unorthodox Sith training provided by Count Dooku himself. Canon Grievous: Electric fan
  • The inconsistencies around Grievous are very jarring. One minute he's a badass who's personally slaughtered dozens of Jedi Knights, the next he's losing one-on-one lightsaber duels to Padawans. One day he's the best strategic mind the CIS have, pulling Alexandrian battle tactics out of nowhere, the next he's an idiot who couldn't organise a drinking session in a brewery. I wish creators would make their mind up as to whether's he's awesome or pathetic
  • Grievous in 2003: A tactical mastermind and unstoppable killing machine. Grievous in the clone wars: whoops there goes my fleet
  • 5:55 – See, the problem is that Obi-wan's Arquitens had an incredibly unique and rare form of armor: plot armor.
  • @ESFNinja
Grievous failed to consider one thing during the battle: He could never overcome the high ground.
  • “Cody punched Grievous in the face” the madlad doesn’t get enough credit.
  • Grievous is an interesting character. He claims (and seems) to be a fairly competent Military leader (maybe even one of the best). But his downfall are his crippling obsessions. He desperately wants to kill Jedi in 1v1's (with limited success and only winning by cheating). If he had taken the more aggressive and attacked the Venators+ Escorts, he could've easily beaten the entire fleet, Kenobi and Anakin included.
  • 2:56 Your inability to launch fighters was a colossal failure. Nay, it was heresy!

”you know what, just make the goddamn ship self-destruct” Eckhart’ladder 2020
  • There is a reason his name is GENERAL Grievious and not ADMIRAL Grievious.
  • Grievous was a truly brilliant commander, it was only because Mr. Senate was controlling the War and Count Dooku that Grievous was limited to having to carry out tactics that made no sense. When he was allowed to let his true military genuine shine, he was practically unbeatable! Edit: Also, this is The Clone Wars, and while I like probably everyone here loves the show, I was pretty disappointed by the fact that they turned Grievous from the terrifying monster he was in Legends into your weekly Saturday cartoon villain.
  • I think that in general (ha!) Grievous was following orders to sow chaos and keep the Jedi running around. Geetsly stated Grievous' biggest strength was more about logistics.
