In order to intercept the Vger Cloud at the earliest opportunity, Admiral Kirk orders the Enterprise to engage warp speed while still within the Terran solar system. However a warp engine imbalance creates an artificial wormhole, also pulling in an asteroid that is put on an impact course with the ship. . .

The wormhole sequence was not as good as I was hoping, the trail effect on the ship is flickery in some shots.

This was really cool. Especially loved the little touch at the end of the Enterprise kinda reeling after emerging from the wormhole. Well done!

I love the warp jump, very clean and straightforward. The Enterprise flyby was elegant. The end with the Enterprise still feeling the impact of the wormhole is a real nice subtle touch. Way to go!

Wrong, Mr. Chekov! There are casualties--my wits! As in frightened out of, captain sir!
  • That was better then the remake. You even get the notion that the ship even took some damage after the wormhole inccident. In the movie you only get a small idea of that when Scotty tells captain Kirk that he is picking up the pieces from the failed warp attempt. Awesome job.

The wormhole provides a point of reference, showing just how big, powerful and fast the Enterprise really is. I love the pitching, and especially the sound of the warp engines! Very cool! Well done!
  • I swear, with Today's Technology, a lot of the old Classics could be remade, looking and sounding amazing.

While I get NOT having music in the original scene with TMP (ships slows down and music doesn't issue) I still think that this scene could have used some as I continue to watch this over the years. So I appreciate your addition of the track here.

God I love the sound and visual effect of the torpedo. Abrams dropped the ball by getting rid of them.
  • While technically well made there is a philosophy of "Less is more". In my original viewings of the movie I was actually more worried and intrigued by this sequence and the Klingon attack than any of the other scenes and they remain my favorites to this point. The wormhole effect in the original was just right and I think rightly remained untouched in the directors cut.

    Chekov: "PHOOOTOOOON TOOORPPEEDOOOS AARRRMMMEEDDD!!!"

Another very impressive video all around, between the graphics, the score, and the sound effects! Kudos, my friend!

It was created by not having properly balanced warp engines, so essentially it was artificial. Spock comes aboard and helps solve the problem.

Always felt that this part of the movie was so out of place that it further effected the already dragging pacing. That said. This is glorious!

I kinda wish they kept the torpedoes blue. Nicely done! :)

Pretty good! Two suggestions: 1. If you look at the original version, the Enterprise is caught in what appears to be a Dutch roll (a type of flight oscillation, which doesn't make sense in space, but whatever), so the ship is out of control on two axes instead of just one. Your video has the Enterprise rolling, but not yawing. (See 0'46" to 0'49" for the best example.) 2. In the original film, most of the illumination on the Enterprise comes from the Enterprise's own lights, not the light from the wormhole. (This is realistic but very hard to film and isn't consistent in the movie; and no other Star Trek film even tried, except for the portside ventral phaser shot from the Enterprise in Wrath of Khan, but nonetheless it is present during the wormhole scene. (Now you'll never be able to look at a phaser blast or torpedo shot again without noticing that its light doesn't light up the Enterprise hull!))

I like how the light trails flicker it makes it seem more unstable
