No... Okay maybe...

Here's what a real champion look like:    • Can Bea Actually Become Champion?

Character Runs in Sword and Shield:    • Can X Become Champion? (Pokemon Sword...
Character Runs in Scarlet and Violet:    • Can X Champion: Paldean Curse
Arven Run:    • Could Arven Actually Become Champion?

With Geeta's team and treatment of her employees how the hell did she get this position? At least Nemona feels like a powerful trainer unlike Geeta

Something I think would be fun is if Geeta led with a Palafin, then was coded to switch it into Glimmora on the first turn. Not only would this make for a brutally powerful ace Pokémon, but Glimmora would likely switch into an attack and get up toxic spikes. That alone would make the fight far more difficult.

Here’s a worldbuilding plothole I recently realized: if every champion-rank trainer has to complete the champion assessment to earn it, that means that the “Top” Champion has canonically lost to every other Champion trainer

Nemona feels more like a champion compared to Geeta. What's more, apparently Nemona completely wiped the floor with Geeta, and without going all out. How are top champions determined in Paldea?

Thing is geeta’s team isn’t bad it’s just what order her pokemon are in. literally has a setup mon as her last pokemon

I just had a horrible vision of trying to do this with Lance in Gen 1. The problem is not beating the game, it's assembling the team. You have to catch and fully train 3 Dratini. With the slow growth rate. And unless you choose to start with a Dratini, your first team member is the level 10 Magikarp you buy before mount moon. So much pain.

In other regions (other than Galar), gym leaders and other trainers don’t really talk about the champion, and when they do, they usually have good things to say. When they talk about Lance or Alder, they talk about them with reverence for their status and power. Trainers discuss Steven and Cynthia like they’re the coolest, most interesting people alive, and always in awe of their talent and dedication. The worst anyone has to say about them is when an elite 4 member mentions their frustration at always being a step behind. And in Galar, where the champion is the only thing anybody ever talks about, they all treat Leon like Lebron James, Elvis, and Jesus rolled into one. But Geeta? People talk about Geeta all the time, and it’s almost always negative. The only person who ever says anything nice about her is Nemona, who has a positive attitude toward everything.

The main problem why Geeta was so disappointing was less her difficulty and more her presentation. She doesn't feel like the one above all and more like the top among many. Previous champs like Cynthia or Leon were the final goal, the Master to dethrone, while Geeta was merely one more of many obstacles to overcome.

Geeta saying “I am utterly incapable” is hilarious, especially because of being added text 🤣😂
  • I just realized something: Of course Geeta's team isn't built to defeat the current gym challenge. All of the gyms got changed like a year and a half ago, likely after she was also the Top Champion. The only people she's had to fight before in her own regions league was her Elite Four, since she personally recruited all of them.

I love how in the Iono battle, one of your pokemon learned a new move which saved the entire battle, this is such a Pokémon cliche and I love it

Geeta: has a good team Also geeta: didn’t use it right
  • @owenbridgers
I mean like i assume Geeta is the Top Champ cause she’s the Chairwomen so, she just put herself in that place
  • I hope that Geeta will get a third fight where she reveals that the team that she used was just a team who was maked only for "weak" trainers like us and Nemona and then she fights us with a better team (and using Glimmora first), and before the fight she should say:"Now I will show you why i'm the TOP Champion." During the fight she would mock us by saying how she wasn't even remotly trying with her original team

The problem is, Paldea is a region without a lot of really strong trainers. They seem to still be early on in their pokemon league, with the Elite 4 having to be roped into doing the job. The whole pokemon league serves as a test for trainers to become champion ranked (not champion), potentially because Geeta needs to find capable trainers to become a new Elite 4 and a real champion. I mean most trainers give up before their 6th badge, and Larry has to do double duty between gym leader and elite 4 member. Even the gym leaders mostly all have day jobs. I feel like the future of Paldea is an entirely new elite 4 and champion for a league that isn't in the early stages. (Which paldea appears to be) Probably with Nemona as champion (Player character is like Red, and just retires). With Eri, Larry and I'm not sure who else as the rest of the Elite 4, and one of Team Star taking over Larry's gym. (Allowing the poor man to take it easy) Geeta's team is fine (though I'd probably replace Avalugg), but the problem is her order. Kingambit should be last, and Glimmora should be second. (Espathra still first to counter setup with Opportunist.)
  • I think she became the Champion the same way that Professor Kukui from Alola did: by default, since he helped organize the league and find eligible trainers.
  • @WarmLillie
Lillie flash back to Nessa lesson Number You’re team order is important… If you have your ace and really want to go all out use it properly too.
  • By the way, the reason you were having so much trouble finding Pawniard in the Orthworm area is because it spawns next to rivers. Not sure why, it just does.
  • @redline49
Isn't Nemona canonically the strongest champion in Paldea? Geeta admitted that even when Nemona battled her for the Champion Rank (and won) that Nemona wasn't going all out.
  • @JakoBpyroTech
You know, these results shouldn't come as a surprise. The degree to which Geeta fail, though, that is suprising. No wonder she likes to ask others to assess the gym circuit in her place. As someone who doesn't play Pokemon, I really like the addition of the text clarifying the various moves effects. It really helps keep track of what's going on.
