The taxes here are horrible for really and truly little to no benefits for it. People mostly suck and there is no life here outside of nature and I’m not going to the hood to try and have a nightlife.

The weather of CT is what I find actually find appealing. I’ve been in Florida since the mid-nineties. The constant heat and humidity, which is worsening every year, has become unbearable. The increasing violent weather has led to our homeowners insurance rates to be outrageous. People think Florida is all about the beach. People actually live here. Things like the holidays - don’t feel the same as up north.
  • I used to live on the West Coast, and I moved back to Connecticut because of the significantly lower cost of living here.
  • People aren't happy no matter where they live. I moved from New York to Connecticut and it's the best thing I ever did. My kid goes to UConn now and he won't get pushed off the train platform or get shot playing outside. A lot of businesses don't do well in Connecticut because I don't think people care about fashion or getting their nails done like they do in new York... It's family oriented. I love it. It's closer to nature. Plus I love quite, non nosey neighbors. 😊

I moved from Long Island NY to Connecticut almost 5 years ago. When I got here, most people I met said something along the lines of "Oh my Gaad (yes there is an accent in Eastern CT) why would you come here?? The taxes are insane!". Well it's all relative. Compared to Long Island, especially the North Shore, taxes here are almost chump change, at least in my Northern Middlesex county town. And as bad as the traffic is here it's nothing compared to the NY metro area...once again all relative. The only thing that irks me is the car tax. Actually I'm surprised NY didn't think of that...they get you coming and going every other way. Other than that, life is good here.

I was born and raised in Mexico, and I moved on my own to Connecticut when I was 22 - I am 51 now therefore I’ve spent more than half of my life in this beautiful state. I am so happy and grateful to be here. I am a proud Mexican New Englander.

Connecticut people do well in other states. Hard working, direct, honest. Don’t stay in Connecticut. You will gain so much more for your hard work and effort in many many other places. We left 20 years ago and one by one our entire families have all left. It’s a broken place that discourages business and taxes for zero reason. My hometown still has the same mayor since 1983, and during that time the town has declined a lot.
  • A very lonely place to live people are very aloof and not friendly. Very cold

I lived in Connecticut for 37 years and in 1992, when they first started imposing an income tax, that was the last straw for me. I moved to Florida. I liked the low property taxes. In Florida, there is NO tax on your vehicle. Just the normal regisration fee. In Connecticut, if you own a brand new car that's still worth a lot, that tax can hurt. Also, rents and houses are cheaper down here. Not as much as they used to be, but still less. As you said in your video, the trade-off is that we earn less money here. As far as the weather goes, yes it's hot here from May until October. 90+ degrees every single day. But I get around that, I stay inside where it is air-conditioned during those months. However, I did the same in Connecticut but did it November to March to beat the cold.

You definitely got all seven reasons right! It helps to have a lot of money, be patient, own a four-wheel vehicle, avoid trips to and from NY in a car, have a good tax accountant, have a thick skin, and love all kinds of weather. Lots to do there. I love the state.
  • Listen my experience down south their not nicer. Their passive aggressively rude.
  • I hope they discontinue motor vehicle taxes. When I bought my vehicle I paid taxes on it, and that was fine, but the biannually car tax is overkill- it's greed. They're taking all our Pennies.

Just visited CT and was surprised how run down, dirty some of the places were. I had also never seen as many homeless people in my life. I was honestly shocked..
  • Lived here for my whole 50 years of life.. im stuck because of family but i spoke with an economist and if you're not making at least bottom of 6 figures in the next 4 years youll be lower middle class living in CT
  • I am coming here 2023. Merry Christmas love From Pakistan

Your videos helped me a lot to educate me and my husband to move to Conneticut. I was looking to other states like Pennsylvania or New Jersey but just by curiosity watching your videos inspired me to look around some places in Connecticut to see which ones I like the most and we ended up in Stratford and we love it! We left New York City for good the high taxes and the subway crimes were insane. Thank you again for keeping us informed!
