My 1978 Ferrari 308GTB is FINALLY done AND I'm selling it! It's been quite the journey to get this classic Ferrari back on the road after I purchased it from Tavarish after the completion of CarTrek 4. And yes, I'm selling it. I love the challenge of a project and I'm ready for the next one. 🚗🚘 If you haven't see the series check it out (   • CarTrek4 '78 Ferrari 308 Series  )

  • $50K is a steal for this car. The modifications you've made will make this a very easy 308 to live with.
  • reminder, no exotic predating the nsx is a daily driver.
  • Growing up watching Magnum PI made me really love this body style.
  • Oh man, if I could fit, I wouldn’t want it. It runs great finally and is perfect for someone who wants to drive
  • Baloney. I have a friend here in Austin who has been daily driving his 308 for nearly 8 years now. And it still looks as beautiful as the day it was made.
  • @bobbyread
I question whether anyone has trailered a 308 to a car show in the last 40 years. There’s a guy who drives his 308 around North America all the time. It’s a fine car for road trips.

when i was a wee lad, my dad came home in one, he was working on for a customer, it's the Magnum car!! I owned a 400 for a while, that was fun fixing up. The fun with these isn't for the driver so much, it's the people that work on them.. it's a bygone era in italian motoring that mechanics and enthusiasts get to enjoy the most. 70's and 80's Fi's are a joy to work on because it's hard not to improve on what's there. Wicked stuff Mr Wiz :) I hope you and Madam have a lovely week x
  • @zhvonte
Ferraris from that era has always been one of my favorite given I'm 50 and grew up during those years. But I totally get why you're selling it, those cars are small and aging only adds challenges winth maintaining them and future parts abilitability.
  • Whaaat. People drive their 308s all the time. I was just talking to a buy with 195K miles on his. I've put >6000 miles on mine in the last three years. They're amazing cars. Would I take this "just completed" project and assume it could go 1000 miles home? No!
  • For the Love of God, take that Holley sticker out of the back window!
  • I have had my 77 308 GTB for over 22 years and I would not hesitate for a moment to drive it cross country. A/C works and cools well enough and the car has been fully reliable and is quite comfortable. I am not sure where this talk of not wanting to drive it comes from. My experience has been totally different.
  • @Nyx_88888
just imagine if yo just had Van Gogh fix that valence and detail it how much better it would present, also whomever did that dash needs to redo it
  • Give it Vango (Hoovies detailer) would like to see what wonders he can perform before you sell it. I reckon it would add another good couple of thousands to the selling price.
  • I m sure there is probably more to the story, BUT why not put another $5-7k in it, install the AC and fix the switches and chin, and sell it for $85k? Seems like an odd decision point unless you need the money right now. Also thought the 'don't drive it' comment was really off-putting. Driven modestly it should do 1000 miles easily. also, IMHO the HOLLEY window sticker is super tacky unless you install a gun rack.
  • But GTB stands for Gran Turismo Berlinetta - Its supposed to be a long drive touring car. The whole joy of the Alpha's and Ferrari's is to get them out on the open road and enjoy the feel of every curve and straight away.
  • Wizard, don’t let the trolls discredit all the work that’s been done. Some people don’t understand that these cars require constant maintenance and take up valuable real estate in a shop / garage. If you’ve lost interest in something, no sense continuing to throw money at it or having it take up space. Time has an intrinsic value as well.

For me, I think Ferrari nailed it with 3 cars since they started building cars : the 246GT Dino, the 308 GTS, and above them all, the all-might 288 GTO, which in my honest opinion, the greatest and most beautiful super car ever built by humans.
  • @jrbuch
Honestly, seems like a fair deal when you consider that it's running, driving and mechanically sorted. Doesn't matter if it's a car or a boat (I have both and both cost to maintain), when they're running and driving, that peace of mind not having to worry 'It will need x or y done to it soon'.
  • Unlike so many Ferrari's of the model and era, this one doesn't have a rusted out frame. If you watch Iain Tyrrell, you will know these things can quietly rust into death traps under that fiberglass body.
  • The Wizard has an amazing shop. Where else would you find a Ferrari Testarossa and 308 next to an old Smart next to a Lamborghini next to a Toyota next to a Lada next to a Citroën. Wow
