This type of transistors sometimes containe gold plated legs,good quality of gold plating.If you lucky you can find full plated transistors,or in my case vith gold plated legs and dots inside.

If the gold transistor tests good, its actually worth allot more money than the gold it contains. Some of them are very rare and has high collectible value.

If there is gold in the high end transistors, could there be a mid-grade with silver? He doesn't seem to sure about the ones not containing gold at times.
