This week Liv is joined by Khruangbin’s iconic bassist Laura Lee. Also known as “Leezy” on stage, Laura and her bandmates Mark and DJ have an instantly recognizable sound - a blend of funk, soul, and disco - that’s cultivated them a massive fan-base, with sold out tours, festival headlines, and collaborations with the likes of Leon Bridges. In this episode, Laura takes us through the inception of the band from their early days in Houston to the barn they record their music in, how she uses fashion to create her on-stage persona, and gives us a behind-the-scenes of their latest record, Mordechai Remixes.

Having dinner together every week for 3 years before ever playing music together is absolutely charming ❤

Fantastic band. Her bass lines are super tasty. She seems to be a very cool person too.

What I love about this band is how despite being flash they’re thing is simple and basic in the best way, and it just works, it’s just the three of them , no overdubbing, transparent about gear and setup, and it just works.

She comes across so grounded, it's the key to a happy life. You can see how much she loves doing what she's doing.

You can tell the bass is what Laura feels comfortable with, she's phenomenal!

She is the definition of sensualness on stage

Best musical coincidence ever for me. On a cringe bender with friends searching for 'Evanescence', and 'Evan Finds the Third Room' came on next and snapped us back into a realm of good taste and vibes. That was years ago. Have loved them ever since.

Clearly an organic collaboration, they sound authentic and inspired. Not trying to be a pervert but I am captivated & hypnotised by Laura's stage presence, for sure together the group are magic.
