Gold panning or prospecting for gold using magnets? Does it make sense? Is gold magnetic? How can you use magnets to find gold. Well.... No, gold is not magnetic. No, gold is not attracted to magnets. However you can still use magnets to find gold, or to recover gold, by using them to attract the black sands that always deposit with the gold. In this video I use a magnetic separator to refine my gold concentrates making it MUCH easier to get the gold.

  • Don’t let the keyboard prospectors and armchair miners get you down Dan. Just forget about what they say. They are a small percentage. The majority of us REALLY enjoy every video and I encourage everyone to tell Dan how cool this channel is and tell him how much we appreciate it. This is a really special channel Dan and I totally understand how hard it is to do this. You are very good at it. We stand with you.
  • Magnet mining for gold was the first method I was taught 30 plus years ago in the White Mountains of NH. Love your content as a hardrock miner.
  • I am really proud to have been able to help Colter design this, from a vision of his first Magic Bit Mini. These will sell themselves.
  • I've been using one of these separators for nearly a year and am VERY pleased with it. It works! Love your videos. They are always informative and entertaining.
  • @necrede
This is the only guy who I don't immediately think they spiked the bag off camera. Dan Hurd is 💯 . Never mined but my 4 year old daughter and I love your videos.
  • I have wanted someone to do a video on this for a long time. I can't wait to see what you show us...just starting now. I have always figured gold pans could have magnets in the back of the pan to pull back the ferrous stuff while panning
  • I hope you keep doing what you are doing, no matter if people say it is good or bad. Your own passion is all that matters.
  • When I got my first pan, the first thing I did was add two small powerful magnets to the inside and out of the bottom of my pan. I would pan both the ferrous and non ferrous. Worked like a charm using some of Dan Hurd's cool panning techniques. Not with the ease of this new separator though. cool!!
  • Dan - you're the man! I enjoy all your videos! You always have something to share and educate the rest us about mining, prospecting, gold recovery, and semi-precious gems. Thank you for that. Please don't stop educating the rest of us! Love that dry magnetic separator.
  • Hey Everyone I am looking for product feedback on the Blue Magnetic Separator shown on this video. If you have a suggestion or idea let me know here and I will try to add it into my next revision. Thanks!
  • I used to belong to the GPOC(gold prospectors of colorado). I find your video of great interest and you give a fun presentation. Thanks.
  • As a young rockhound, in my day stuck in southern Alberta where there is nothing but clay and mud for the most part, I love how educational and fun your vids are. Thank you to you and your family.
  • First timer here. Thoroughly enjoyed this video and because of this information you have shared with me I too am now the wiser. Thanks Mister for allowing that knowledge to flow right through you into myself and countless others. Thx again 😎
  • What a great machine , im sure it's way to expensive for people starting out but definitely something I will keep my eye on ..... great video and technique teaching 👏
  • Hey Dan, I LIKE watching the very last bit of clean up, its so VERY satisfying for some reason...lol
  • I just stumbled on this channel and have never done this hobby, but...I really like this guy.
  • I just wanted to express my gratitude to you Dan. You have taught me so much! Because of you and your videos im growing as a prospector. Thank you for all the hard work you do and the knowledge you keep sharing!!! Your awesome.
  • @Ironsja11
I just made myself a nice slab of salmon with a side of broccoli and garlic bread, sat down to see if anything good was on the tube and saw a fresh Dan Hurd video. Life is good!
  • Watching the magnetics dance, on the second run through put a daft grin on my face!
