It was smart but it also was a discount to help the team, both are true. If it was purely about getting long term money in the future then you would see more stars doing this exact thing but no, nobody has ever taken a discount like this so yeah I still think it is pretty incredible. LeBron took a $3m discount this year and thought it was generous

I also think Brunson is also getting a lot of money off the court as well. New York is the fourth largest state in turns of population, the Knicks don’t really have in-state competition, and Knick fans have been long suffering for success. If Brunson is able to be seen as the guy for the Knicks, thats a whole lot of money off the court as well.

my goodness,salary cap constantly rising,but the teams always have problems with cap space and NBA's middle class almost got extinct because of mammoth contracts of the stars.How on Earth one man can get a 1/3 of entire team payroll? Ridiculous .
