It is possible for the brain to rewire after a brain injury or a stroke. This process is based on the theory of neuroplasticity. That being said, there is an ideal way and a "less than ideal" way to restore function. Here you will learn the correct way to facilitate "positive" neuroplasticity and avoid what I call negative neuroplasticity.

Recovering from an acute stroke I had a month ago. Praying for everyone here speedy recovery ❤🙏🏾
  • Let's pray for everybody in hospital that they get proper treatment.
  • i had a right sidehemorrhagic stroke Nov12,2021. I had to relearn how to swallow, speak, walk and focus my eyesight on my left side. I am more fit since my stroke. I lost 105 pounds, my blood pressure and diabetes are controled. I run 3 miles a day albeit a very slow 3 miles, I ride my bike every so often and have been doing resistance bands every day and my muscles are popping like when I was a 16 year old teenager. I can honestly say that my stroke was the best thing that ever happened to me. I am more healthy today and my views on life and whats truly important has changed! Never give up!
  • I'm currently recovering from a hemorrhagic stroke in the left pons brain stem. My affected side is my dominant right side. From day 1 demanded of my body and still do. Dont give up its a process. Sending all my love to stroke survivors and caregivers ❤❤❤❤
  • I am currently sitting in the ICU from a mild hemorrhagic stroke, right side. At at the onset I had R-side hemiplegia and aphasia. My symptoms resolved within 5 minutes and got my ass to the ER within one hour. It was scary as hell and I wouldn’t wish this event on anyone. My stroke was mild. Day 3 and just some slight memory issues. I am blessed. Anyone who is suffering from a stroke my heart and prayers are with you and keep fighting and rehabbing. Bless you all
  • YES! You can recover. Get on your feet and get walking immediately. Do not sit in the hospital bed or ride in a wheelchair. Use a walker if you have to but get on your feet immediately.
  • I had read a lot of your comment after watching the video. I am 9 years since my stroke. I have had lots of thearpy in the 1st 2 years but could not afford any more thearpy for a few years as time went on. So I started to work out in the gym and still do which helps a lot. I suggest you get your balance stabilize as much as you can to feel confident in using some of the equipment to not feeling like you are going to fall. I also do an overabundance of brain activity like Luminosity, puzzles, reading, etc. Dr. you are right...reputation is definitely key for both sides of the body and demands the affected sides participate. my motto is: if you are breathing you got to move. NEVER GIVE UP.
  • She is absolutely correct, recovery will only occur if you make "you" do it, yes its hard, yes it makes you angry for the problems you did not have before but you can get your brain to rewire if you "make it" do what you want, not take a compensation route out of the problem, it worked for me and some of us wont be so lucky !!
  • AS A STROKE VICTIM , ... I AGREE WITH THIS I ONLY WISH MY DR.WOULD HAVE EXPLAINED IT AS YOU HAVE . THANK YOU .
  • I'm 5 years post stroke and your videos have been a life saver. I was in acute rehab for 1 month after stroke and out patient rehab for 6 months. I listened intently to everything they had me do. This is all new information to me. It's wonderful, gives me hope with new exercises specially for me. Thank you for taking the time.
  • Awesome... I listen to you in the hospital. When I had a mild stroke. In 3 weeks I was 80% better. It’s been 2 months and I can walk 5 mile now. I feel 98% better. Hopefully by next year It will be a 100% better. Thank you for your Knowledge. I greatly appreciate it💕💕💕
  • I have no idea how some people put thump down to this useful informative educational information,
  • i thank you for your videos. i had a stroke 5 years ago at 45. it has been a living hell for me. i enjoyed therapy but now i get no professional therapy and do not have the money to pay out of pocket.
  • @Sovreign87
Bless you for this info. My 74yr old father just had a stroke 2 nights ago and even though I was knowledgeable about neuroplasticity you put many thoughts in order and helped me research enough knowledge to aid in his recovery. At least when the doctors explain whats happening and will happen - I can understand what's going on and possibly assist. Please pray for my father he is still not out of the woods yet.
  • Just had a stroke Monday back home Thursday num left arm and leg face i can walk and use my arm and hand working hard to keep moving start pt next week asking for prayer hopefully we all get better 🙏
  • When I get discouraged I watch this video a handful of times now. Axonal regeneration is my new band name. If I get fingers back I'm taking piano lessons. 18 months, stronger every day. Thank you Doctor Tara!
  • Absolutely fabulous video. This August it will be 2 years since I had my stroke. Listen to this video has explain everything. I am a Christian and I know My God going to turn things around for me. Watching these videos everyday. I am doing some of the exercises every day. I haven’t got a Physiotheropist I watch you Doc Tobias. Thanks you very much. Keep posting.
  • I love this video!!! I had my stroke 8/4/22 and I started walking right away and moving my arm. I’m not using a Walker or cane to avoid relying on that. I’m able to raise my arm all the way up and stretch out with practice over practice. My hand has stopped closing tight and I can now relax on command . This video gives me a lot of hope for a full recovery
  • I am a stroke patient for over 2+ years and I was losing hope and faith in my recovery chances, especially when it comes to my affected left side thanks a lot for renewing my faith in my recovery!
  • Nothing was soapbox here Dr.Tobias - my Father who suffered a stroke 25 years ago on the right side, recently suffered another stroke bilaterally, and after physiotherapy, regained some functionality in his right hand that he had lost 25 years ago. Please keep up the beautiful work you're doing putting out all this info on the net - I will do my best to spread it. You're helping us, and so many people who have no access to this wealth of knowledge and motivation. GOD, LIFE, NATURE, CREATION, CONSCIOUSNESS, whatever you want to call it, may it shower its blessings on you always!
