Limited Run Games continues to prey on retro gamers

Published 2024-05-02
Limited run games is scamming the gaming community with half baked products. They have been caught just burning discs instead of pressing discs and many people in the gaming community have been calling them out. This is a warning to consumers not to buy from limited run games. They are exploiting peoples nostalgia and not delivering the products they claim.

Update : limited games actually did apologize because of public outcry. They claim they tested it and had no issues and that they had done their research, and for some reason came up with the conclusion that CD-R would be better. But since people were upset and having issues, they are looking at partnering with someone different who can press the discs and will send out replacements. It’s I’m glad they’re doing the right thing, but I also think they should’ve had a more rapid response. But at the end of the day, I’m still glad people will get the game they paid for. Also, LRG is going to halt all disc production of 3DO games Until they figure this out

Great video, I appreciate your insight, I hadn’t thought about them being owned by Embracer
  • @jayme69
Props to you for shouting them out. Selling CD-Rs is nothing short of that dodgy guy down the market who sells games to order. Keep up the awesome work PK!
  • @Ed_13_R
Well that’s a new low for LRG. On top of the expensive shipping that goes with the orders , to get a DVD-R is a scam for sure.

I wonder if anybody went back to some of their other niche games that they done for consoles like the Sega CD, and determined if they use the same practices back then. Or any of their PC releases that were on CD or DVD. And I wonder how much Embracer group is involved with this, maybe they are the reason for this lazy cost cutting move.
  • I only have one LRG title that I bought second hand for Switch. After seeing so much of the shady crap they've pulled, then this, I'm certainly not inclined to ever buy from them directly. Now I have to wonder if some of their Sega CD games I've seen at my local store are even on discs that are of any respectable quality.
  • @cooladee
I can't wait for them to sell Amico games.

Awesome video PK! Looks like i got scammed cos I bought D for the 3DO. I havent opened it yet because I didn't do my pickup video yet.
  • @PragmatikReviews
Glad i haven't really bought from them recently. Now I have to consider if I want their Clocktower that they are doing.
  • how could they possibly think they could get away with this when their customer base is a bunch of nerds ffs?
  • @erikjohanson3929
Good to see you calling them out. I had not heard of this but now i have.
  • @ksavage681
I stopped doing Limited Run when it turned out it wasnt really limited and the wait times were horrible. I can find most elsewhere for cheaper.
  • @BanditsBest686
glad to say ive yet to owned a single limited run or whatever other companies make these games..NOT ONE
  • I completely agree with you. I didn't care about their political-oriented controversies to be honest. But selling CD-Rs is revoluting for so many reasons.
  • @sabertoothretro
My copy of D is scheduled to deliver tomorrow. I'm not happy to see this. I think that I'm done with LRG.
  • Yea i heard about the cdr situation. I dont completely understand what the big deal about it. Plus im a fan of LRG. Now they arent perfect. They have problems but i buy from them a lot and i really enjoy their physical games for switch, ps5 and xbox. Im loving that they are supporting physical xbox a whole lot because of the game pass situation with xbox and them trying to get rid of physical xbox games. So many LRG games im looking forward to preordering. I watch your videos all the way through. I never had a 3do. But i got the switch version of plumbers dont wear ties.

WTF, that's nothing but a bootleg and may even become a blank disc in less than 10 years. Last game I bought took 18 months to arrive, put me right off from using them again.
