oh hey i actually used this concept too! I used the slick race tires and maxed out the stiffness and damping on the suspension. Also small elevators on the back to control my descent on the jumps. Got me into the top 3% of times!
-
Don't know if u've realized, there are leagues within the races based on power core ranges. I'd love to see how far u can take this base car with upgraded aero in this league.
-
Welcome back to Trailmakers, Kosmo! Don't get so down on yourself about being out of practice, man. You made a vehicle without thrusters and destroyed my time on this track in one build session. I spent over an hour trying to get a sub-60 time after building a car with a thruster. Lol.
-
So, there's a car from can-am, the Chaparral 2E, where the downforce is applied directly to the wheels and not the body, effectively removing the suspension from the equation of downforce. Now I'm not saying it'd be up your alley to recreate this design, but since you're already doing things that were done in can-am, intentionally or otherwise, I figured you should try this out for a build as well.
-
I would be really curious how well it would work if you used hinges or servos to rotate the fan to a 45 degree angle pointing forward and down to apply both thrust and downforce
-
That comment about too many fans but not enough subscribers earned my like.
-
I really hope these races still exist after the event!!

Interesting concept and watching the evolution of the fan car is great Watching you spin off the banked curve into the water is brilliant ๐ 20:25

Love that 60s style F1 fan concept you built, Kosmo! Would love to see you build a Chaparral, where you utilize both a fan and aero devices and see where that gets you in terms of speed and handling.
-
I mean, the glitches should be 100% banned from the races and competitions like these... but then when I say that, everyone calls me an idiot, or looks at me funny... so... I guess I'll just shut up. ๐๐

Just a little tip for making race builds focused on cornering is making your max turning angle 16.5 degrees of maximum angle (it's dependent on the track but this is what most race teams run for angle)
-
mm idea can you guys do the rpg olympics? do a deliver/fetch quest - take an object to a designated point and swap it out and bring the second object back. do a kill quest - kill X bots the fastest. include multiple smaller types and have a farmbot boss tower climb quest - a parkour tower Epic journey - a race up a mountain with bots and obstacles. time trial on all
-
Interesting now the next experiment how to race with no power cores and still achieve a 70% better than

Watch Kosmo back on Trailmakers made my day โค
-
Could you use sensors to detect when a wheel is starting to lift, and activate the downforce automatically?
-
There was a fan car mad once for Formula 1, no kidding. It was called the Brabham BT46. It only raced a few times, and was voluntarily withdrawn. It was banned the next year
-
time to install trailmakers again

Just so ya know, we all love the facecam

was not expecting a kosmo facecam

There was a Formula 1 (?) car back in the day that did exactly this- vacuumed air from under itself with a powered fan. It did performed really well. It's a shame that TM does not really model air well though, having uniform pressure over the entire car would have been much better than one fan. Not only that, but like with that F1 car in particular, the fan was pointed backwards so when the car tilted it would not get any sideways force from the fan. Here it is closer to a SM thruster, so as it tilts you get some potentially unwanted side thrust as well. As a side note, your audio sounds to be a fraction of a second ahead of the webcam, but that could just be me.
