I’m Irish and I always go back to watch these videos of the Irish-American/ American-Irish bands

These are the times I miss being a police sergeant in the metro NYC area.

My dad was a piper with the Canadian army in WWII. Apparently he would practice indoors in the evenings and we kids just slept right through it.

The Pipes & Drums are my all time FAVORITES ! ❤️💚 👌

I had the high honor of marching in the ST Patrick's Day four years in a row back in the early sixties with my high school band. Your ideo was fantastic but the band I saw from my old school was nothing compared to the 110 member group we had. We also marched for the NYPD Holy Name Society when they marched from ST Pat's to the Waldorf Astoria. We were al;ways the first school band to march down Fifth Ave..in the parade but those days are just a memory but a great one. Thanks again for your great surprise video.

Those are called Stetson hats that the NYSP wear. We at PA State Parks and our brethren at the PA State Police wear the campaign hats aka smokies (both are green in color). When I started with the feds in DC, we wore an 8 pointer but 9/11 allowed us to ditch our hats for ball caps. Later on our official class A we went back to the Campaign hats in grey.
