Congrats to our viewer @skylarkermott6210 for getting the most upvotes on our build challenge and also a big thanks for your incredible build!

This build emulates Sypha from Castlevania to build a melee mage that focuses on elemental attacks. Accomplished by using the Bladesinger Wizard, the Wildfire Druid, and some awesomely flavorful spells we get The Melee Elementalist.

Big thanks to Obvious Mimic for sponsoring our video!

  • Rime's Binding Ice + Wall of Fire is genuinely a really strong combo that I've never thought of before and is basically what happens in that scene.
  • Storm sorcerer gets a bonus action wind tele-flight after casting a levelled spell, which might be more efficient that the wildfire spirit [only has 20hp w/ a 3 level investment, action to resummon, takes its turn after yours, 1 hour duration, 2/short rest]. Sorcerer would also double your sorcery points with a 2 level investment. 3 le vels would allow you to choose a different starting feat, as well as get you access to flame blade [if you need it] via tasha's variant. If you take more sorcerer levels you could get the lightning aoe from Heart of the Storm [or it could be accomplished via 1 level in tempest cleric for wrath of the storm] Alternatively, ascendant dragon monk (3+) [elemental unarmed strikes, AOE elemental blast attack, BA dodge/disengage] + the mobile feat could cover a lot of ground towards the concept. Throw in some elemental magic with some druid levels for thematic spell progression.

So I was rewatching the unarmed gish and I think I have a better solution that gives you a second attack great ac and tons of spell usage, all while using a wisdom class. Hear me out. You take a few lvls monk just to get the starting good stuff and then you take moon druid. BUT you reflavor the animal transformations as old school Kung fu forms, like tiger style, bear style elemental styles and what not. You get 2 attacks, great AC, and great movement both in your "stances" and out of them. High wisdom high dex so ur tons of spells are powerful u have good initiative and it's all super flavorful. I freaking love it 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤. I'm a patreon but don't know how to get ino the discord. But yeah def my next character I'm proud of it.

Melf’s Minute Meteor using transmuted spell to lightning damage would be a good equivalent to those electricity balls she has floating behind her. But you can only shoot off up to 2 at once not all six But you can fire them as a bonus action and still do another spell as your action
  • ayyy your back, i hope you had a nice vacation but, for a build that i was doing (max damage posible), i really wanted to make a 2 dip into monk work for flurry of blows (cus 2 attacks could be allot more cus of all the bonusses we have on, but because neither smites nor the angelic weapon trait worked with normal unarmed strikes it wasnt worth it just yet, so i did some digging and found out that you can actually do those things if you use natural weapons. now, later i thought about that video of yours with the worst multiclass, specificly the paladin/monk one, i thought you could probably redo it with this knowledge in mind, and that is exactly what i did, here it comes. now before we do that tho, we gotta know what natural weapons to use, since every race reprinted in monsters of the multiverse had a change in the text making their claws/bites/hooves/horns no longer natural weapons, rather just normal unarmed strikes, and im not sure what the rules are on if you need to use the most recent prints of a race, but for this build i am going to assume so yes. with this in mind, we have the following options for gaining natural weapons dhampire leonin simic hybrid the dragonhide feat (prereq: dragonbron) 15 lvl dip into warlock for the master of myriad forms 14 lvl dip into moon druid for thousand forms 3 lvl dip into beast barbarian for form of the beast i am going to go with the dragonhide cus i like the flavor of it, but if you dont want to take a feat i would recommend going leonin since the other options are either nonpermanent, to heavy dips (15 lvls is slightly to much to my taste), gets them only at lvl 5, or is a bite of which i dont really like the flavor (aldo dhampire would be quite stat efficient) so with that out of the way, lets talk stats, imma assume pointbuy here but to really play this effectivly you'd probably just wanna roll high on 5 stats. so with pointbuy our stats are gonna be like this str:13 dex:14 +2 con:13 int:8 wis:13 +1 cha:13 and we are a metalic dragonborn now we are going to start the build out with 5 lvls in monk, for our subclass we are going open hand (since we want the unarmed flavor) and for our first asi we're taking dragonhide with the +1 to con. then we're taking 4 lvls into paladin, specificly vengeance bc we want any source of advantage we can get and we take +2 dex for our asi now we go back to monk for the next 6 lvls taking atleast a +1 to wisdom, posibly with a halffeat, or a +1 to con (to later take a half con feat) and now for our final 5 lvls go into sorcerer (unless you want to do an only paladin/monk then just go paladin but this way we get more smiteslots) i'd say abberant but you can go whatever. for our final asi we'll either be taking +2 dex or feat, like cartomancer so we can get a find greater stead and a once a day 4th lvl sorc/pala spell now if your dm allows small respecs of a character or if youre playing this at lvl 18 or above only, you can remove 1 lvl of paladin for a 6th lvl into sorc, and if you took abberant you can now cast hex with sorcery points, and have advantage on saves against charms and frighteneds which is great also and thats it, hope you enjoy
  • @madcat1865
Just a couple points: I'd go Swarmkeeper instead of Wildfire Druid; you can flavor the swarm as those motes of light and they give you mobility and damage options. The other (not as powerful as chain lightning) but you COULD Contingency a Sword Burst since you target yourself.
  • @a.z.pantera5577
I really wanna see a sort of tanky draconic spell fist build. Something like Ascendant Dragon Monk + Tempest or Light Domain Cleric. A lot of Cleric magic to bolster your defenses while also exploiting elemental weaknesses. And if your DM allows it, have Gift of the Chromatic Dragon apply to your unarmed attacks as well to squeeze a bit more damage out of your strikes. Especially early on.
  • @Wiredj
Welcome back! Cool build, and it looks like you got a camera upgrade. Nice!
  • @chumpster1495
Great video! I'm gonna use this for a high level one shot I'm playing soon I think. I love Chain Lightning, I think it's my favorite spell. If ur DM is very strict just say the Shadow Blade is made from Black Fire conjured from the Shadowfell or the Abyss or something. I'd just let the player switch psychic to fire tho.
  • @ratnakarporob
If druids get any decent elemental spells at high levels (I'd assume so since they are all about nature and stuff) then we can grab the mizzium apparatus (uncommon item) to get access to them with this multiclass dip.
  • @NmanStully
Welcome back! Hope your time off was restful/productive. Great video, as per usual.

I’m going to repost my build I wrote in the in the original challenge, because it is very different take on it and posted it a little late. Hope you like it. I propose going Soulknife 3/ Dragon Monk 7/Scribes Wizard 10 Sypha starts out surprising them by jumping down from above and casts Scouring Rays as cold damage. She is able to land safely from high up because of slow fall. She casts Fire Shield and Spirit Shroud before they get to her as she forms her psychic blades in her hands. She then a spear coming at her and is able to use her reaction to deflect it. Throughout the fight she strikes and throws her psychic blades, which are sheathed with ice from Spirit Shroud (but you could make one them fire for flavor). She also makes use of the monk’s dodge and disengage actions as well as dragon monk’s ability to changing any unarmed strikes to fire, lightning or ice. When the 3 jump down, Sypha casts Thunderwave to push them all back, followed by Hold Person at 5th level to keep them paralyzed. Sypha casts Jim’s Magic Missile as icicles and finishes them off by casting Fireball centered on herself. Since she has Fire Shield up and uses the monk’s Evasion feature , she is unharmed by the famous Fireball😊
  • @xiongray
Almost forgot about this one. Glad to see it in fruition. I could see it as Bladesinger 6, Eldritch Knight 12, Wild Magic Sorcerer 2. Attacking up to three times with one casting of Cantrip, then BA: Attack OR Metamagic: Quicken Spell a Save Spell because your Eldritch Strike grants your attack target Disadvantage on their next Save.
  • @jeffersonian000
I did a melee caster in my early days of 5e (my second character) built around Inflict Wounds, a Fallen Aasimar Evil Divine Soul Sorcerer with a dip into Barbarian for Unarmored Defense, and a 2lvl dip into Warlock for the 2 extra spell slots and invocations. Played him like a Street Fighter style martial artist complete with power ups. I would build him differently today, but he was super fun to play at the time.
  • @lastdracon
Welcome back Sage. For me the little lightning motes I would have gone the spell that creates little meteors around you that you can launch at an enemy as a bonus action.
  • @X20Adam
Sypha is the love of my life. We stan an Elemental Queen 👏🏻
  • @Slayersrule
I’d love to see the speedster. The fastest character possible who runs so fast they break all laws of physics.
  • I would probably go profane soul blood hunter instead of wildfire Druid, elemental weapons always make me think of crimson rite, plus you are able to pick up more martial capabilities, and maybe re flavour blood curse of binding to be the ice.
