Mel Brooks, Woody Allen, and Carl Reiner remember Sid Caesar and the 2000 Year Old Man bit during a segment from the 2013 AFI Life Achievement Award.

I can't help but admire these men. At their age, they can still remember things that happened ages ago and qoute them as if they were recent events. Really good memories.
  • The segment I like the best is when Carl asks how many children he has, Mel Brooks rambles on about how many doctors, lawyers, accountants he has...... .AND NOT ONE COMES TO VISIT.

The supreme irony is that Mel Brooks, Woody Allen, Larry Gelbart [ M.A.S.H.] and Neil Simon [ The Odd Couple, The Heartbreak Kid, Biloxi Blues, Promises, Promises ] all began their careers as comedy writers for Sid Caesar on Your Show Of Shows and Caesar's Hour, however, Caesar's career went into an eclipse in the early 60s and he couldn't make the transition into successful films, with the exception of Mad, Mad World. The respective writers achieved great success in stage and films as writers and directors.

Man I wish I could have been there one night when Woody and Mel were walking home together in Brooklyn, just listened to these two titanic geniuses of comedy and different aspects of Jewish shtick talking together

Read Mel’s book, “It’s Good to be the King.”

  • It looks. The video is so nice effect spark What's your opinion about it, guys
  • You didn't need much talent to be successful on TV in the 1950's: Sid Cesaer, Milton Berle, George Burns, Jack Benny or Red Skelton. Low-talent hacks with no competition for a captive audience forced to decide on which of 3 channels to watch.
