I think the reason he says "what are you?" is that Sith haven't been seen for about 900 years at this point. This is probably the point where the Sith have probably faded to myth (at least to the public) and some probably wondering if they even existed at all at this point and also younger Jedi may not know that they wielded red lightsabers. And I'm also guessing that any Jedi who encounters this dark side user will not live to tell the council and thus keep the "the Sith haven't been seen in over a millennia" line from Phantom Menace canon.

"The Sith have been extinct for a millennia." "I do not believe the Sith could have returned without us knowing." These phrases come from the single most arrogant and narrow minded members of the Jedi Council. Why do we give them credence?
  • But the Jedi didn’t always tell the truth. Qui Gon may have been told it had been many generations, but the Jedi kept lots of secrets.

They showed us a sneak peek of the fight scenes after the Phantom Menace, and it was "Matrix- level" badass. 💯
  • I used to really like your channel and felt like you were a force of positivity and I really enjoyed your excitement about things but these recent reviews on the Acolyte trailers have seemingly joined the chorus of supposed Star Wars fans that just hate everything new and breeds toxicity that hurts people. This tone is just very different from what I remember your channel being. People seem to forget how much the prequels were hated when they first came out and how intensely the toxic backlash affected actors and artists involved in the prequel movies. You are absolutely entitled to your opinion but as a lifelong Star Wars devoted fan myself, I’m extremely disappointed to hear you say, “yeah this series will have to prove itself to me”. Star wars in general as a societal era and a pop culture movement has literally been with me my whole life and made a very significant impact in my life. This series looks incredible. Some of us are excited and welcome all of it.
  • Had the same thought: last time I was only whelmed by a SW trailer it was for Andor… and Andir turned out to be freakin’ amazing. So, cautiously optimistic.
  • You guys are having the weirdest takes on this one. "Why this story?" Because we've never deviated from a story being after Phantom Menace and before Force Awakens, and Disney is testing if people will be interested in shows and movies that expand beyond that, because parts of fandom have started really asking for it. You're sick of Tatooine? You're sick of post-empire? You're sick of pre-OT/post-PT? This show is them seeing how many people feel that.
  • I mean, all of the Skywalker era movies and shows take place over the course of 67 years. I'll gladly take something 100 years out from something we know.

Franchises will always have this struggle: How to introduce new ideas, characters, settings and situations without immediately justifying their existence. People are either turned off by "everything is connected to everything," or that "this new thing doesn't make sense with the information I have about this universe."
  • Ki Adi said the sith have been extinct for a millennia, but I predict this string of murders is going to go largely unexplained. The reason the antagonist is using knives is to not lead anyone back to the sith, but if someone does happen to encounter the red blade.. they're never seen again and thus can't let the word get out. Also, sorry y'all, I love ya but I'm confused by the confusion and hesitation. Show looks cool.

Is it ever exhausting to sit there and filter everything through a lens of "can I/should I/should everyone enjoy this?" instead of just enjoying it? I really don't understand it.

WELL NOW WE NEED A YOUNG JUSTICE REACTION BECAUSE ADAM SAID WHELMED
  • @michaeljeacock
Adam is very obsessed with a single line said in the prequels by people known to bend the truth to a certain point of view and hush shit up.
  • @srrams74
Little disappointing...Adam has clearly decided he already doesn't like the show. If the reactions end up like the Rebel Moon one (where they went in ready to crap on it and crapped on it for the sake of crapping on it) then I'll have to skip these

Darth Sidious wasn't born the day we first see him and Maul in The Phantom Menace. "The Sith have been extinct for a millennia" is false the second Mundi says it. Its to show the Jedi hubris and ego. They had been around for quite some time, but were smart enough to cover their tracks. Only Sidious was smart enough to find a way to reveal and pull off his plan to take out the Jedi. The previous ones remained in the shadows. If anybody survives that fight, they wont be believed either.
  • @playlistb3795
The why? Because shit rocks. The Jedi are at the height of their powers. We will learn the why in the show. There is a lot of mystery in what happens and I am glad for it.
  • @crimsonknight83
That mask is giving me Sith Chainsaw Man vibes. And now I'm picturing a mashup design in my head 🤯
  • @ImJeSsYMaRtY
The sith were in the shadows trying to manipulate everything for 800 years before the acolyte . Kidi mundi’s knowlege on the sith only goes so far . Yoda is known to hid things from the other members of the Jedi . He hid the existence of the nameless until it bit them on the ass whose to say he hasn’t done the same here
  • Force Nijas are a very cool idea. A force user who doesn’t have a light saber, or simply chooses not to use the saber, and instead leans more into using other force abilities with a different variety of weapons is dope. Use the Jedi Mind Trick and make everyone in the room you just walked into think you’re invisible. No one sees nothin. The negative about both this trailer and the last teaser is that the Jedi are always getting murdered. They are always getting hunted. And seriously, when was the last time we weren’t told the Jedi are the real bad guys because they’re secretly war mongers who are so drunk on their own Too Cool for School-Aid hubris. Like, I just want the Jedi to be an actual effective force for good again. Their fall is less and less impactful if they never actually had the moral high ground to begin with.
