  • Good choice Freddie. I just got myself a Merlin Nomad jacket from Urban Rider, very happy, and will go well with that Interceptor that I picket up after our chat in Vilnius. Similar dilemma in regards to gear for my partner - Knox is also on my list as a possibly best solution. As for ByCity helmets, I have the Roadster. Looks great, and the lining is nice, but other than that - I regret it. After all, the main purpose of a helmet is to protect that brain of ours. The helmets from this brand will adhere to 22.05, but nothing more beyond that, and it's a very weak standard. Safety first. Looking at Arai and Shoei instead, they have attractive and safe options that also come with Pinlock and visors that won't leak. To that end, the Heron helmet you saw is actually on a similar level as ByCity. Cheers, stay warm and safe.

I think a lot of companies are missing out by not sending gear for Monika to try out.
  • @TomTremayne
An interview with Monika please. We know every possible thing about you by now Freddie!!!!

Back in the real world, I'm off to J&S to get cheap and cheerful winter clobber 😄
  • @BlakesPipes
I did it all wrong! I own 20 jackets and 20 pants, 5 helmets, 30 gloves and a bunch of other things. Very happy she found something she loves. That's you, not the jacket!
  • For some reason i really love this channel.. i can't exactly figure out the reason behind it but i think it might be your personality, your love for classic bikes and your dressing sense. It aligns with my personality. Whenever I'm feeling a bit low ,I come here and Imagine myself in your shoes, makes me feel better.
  • @BlueRidgeRider
That was fun! I’m glad Monika found what she was looking for. And thanks for showing more Monika. The internet gets better whenever she’s on it😊

Hi Freddie, Take a look at the rating system below. Classification AAA: The highest level, with the machine spinning at 707.4rpm (the velocity of the sample holder being equivalent to 120km/h) in Zone 1, at 442.1rpm (equivalent to about 75km/h) in Zone 2 and at 265.3rpm (equivalent to around 45km/h) in Zone 3. Classification AA: More suited to touring gear, this specifies Zone 1 at 412.6rpm, 265.3rpm in Zone 2 and 147.4rpm (the equivalent of around 25kmh) in Zone 3. Classification A: Deemed suitable for urban riding, with Zone 1 requiring 265.3 rpm and 147.4rpm in Zone 2. There’s no requirement for abrasion resistance in Zone 3 materials. An "A" rated jacket's Zone 1 speed is only as high as Zone 3 on an AAA garment, which is equivalent to 45kmh (28mph). Google "diagram for zoning of motorcycle protective wear" for clarification on where the zones are on the garment. "A" rated garments are recommended for "Urban" riding, speeds up to 45kmh (28mph)? Riding at significantly higher speeds would not be advisable. Aesthetics and maximum comfort must give way to being safe first on a motorcycle.

Finally! A few scant pics of Monica! Freddie, you're a fine looking gent, but, well , you know !
  • @fats1612
We need more Monica in the vids

Hi Freddie, that looked like one of Evil Knievel's Harley stunt bikes in the Warrs dealership. The one with the stars and stripes and silver metalflake paint. Its kind of poignant as Evils son Robbie passed away last week on the 13th of January. He followed in his father's footsteps and a record breaking daredevil. RIP Robbie.

Great job, Freddie and Monica. Great teamwork too. May I also remind y'all to not overlook an accessory that many riders will overlook: proper riding gloves that save the hands from road rash. Very often, the first part of your body to make contact with the ground are your hands. Kevlar and/or leather gloves are the best protectors for your hands, I have found from personal experience. Happy trails, y'all.

I'm a big fan of urban rider, I'm up in Manchester and we don't have anything like them up here. The service you get from them is amazing, quick delivery and a printed sticker in the box should you decide you're not keen on the item and want to send it back. A good rewards scheme too. Lovely to see a company doing customer service the right way these days! 👍
  • @kebmel8668

always wondered about going to urban rider and of course where to go for a posh coffee afterwards so thankyou for answering both questions - love these vids
  • @buddhabob4168
Comes to something when one chooses fashion over function..... "Dress for the slide not the ride...." But something is better than nothing when it comes to protection..... Stay safe 🙏
  • @alanspence1716
Very enjoyable video, you almost convinced me that the A12 is a wonderful road! I'm pleased you gave Monika the time and support to get something good. Looks like a very good choice for her. I hope she's happy with that uncomfortable seat arrangement now :) Wow, what an excellent shop, I need to keep my credit card away from there. Thanks for another brilliant YouTube video.
