  • As a little side comment: I would've absolutely LOVED seeing Snape having to prepare the students for the Yule Ball :D
  • Can you imagine how angry Snape would be not being able to take away points from Harry? Thats like his favorite thing to do
  • This is not a theory. This is a full blown fanfiction and I love it.
  • I'm not sure Harry's "defeat" of Voldemort in Philosopher/Sorcerer's Stone would necessarily lose him support in Slytherin. Some might imagine that if boy Harry can defeat the Dark Lord (twice!) before he was 14, implies he must be a very powerful wizard indeed. Some ambitious wizards might decide Harry was worth following rather than the man who had failed to kill him.
  • Harry in Slytherin sounds a bit more interesting. At least from my perspective Slytherin is usually painted as a bunch of one dimensional villains with few redeemable qualities, but having the main character and hero of the story be part of this house it gives me the impression that perhaps Slytherin house can be redeemed. It’s also nice to see the Golden Trio’s friendship still blossom even with Harry being part of a different house.
  • ...I love this version of the chamber of secrets. It foreshadows amazingly that Harry is a horcrux. Plus imagine Salazar turning in his grave knowing his basilisk is under the control of two half bloods, and presented with a pure blood wizard from one of the oldest Wizarding families to kill. Amazing
  • Something I'm just now thinking about on my fifth or sixth watching of this series, Dumbledore's explanation of Harry "befriending a giant underwater snake" would probably inadvertently make Hagrid very proud, with him assuming it was his care of magical creatures lessons that gave Harry the capacity to use animals to help him in the lake during the second task.

Malfoy freeing Doby is a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE bit of character development for him. even if it was just out of pride and a feeling of "i don't want to owe potter anything".
  • Another reason for Harry to step in to help Neville is that, thanks to the Dursley’s, he hates bullies. His inclination would be to help anyone being bullied.

With how big a role Draco comes to play in Slytherin Harry's adventure, the more intense trials they go through to forge friendships, old and new alike, I'd like to put forward upgrading from the Golden trio to the Platinum Quartet

I love the idea that they redeem the basilisk!! Its also adorable how the Phoenix and the basilisk part ways on a good note of "here leme heal those wounds i gave ya fam, srry about that!" Too sweet!
  • I really like this Draco slow burn redemption arc. It kind of reminds me of Zuko's from ATLA. Realizing that you do not have to be evil just because you were born into it, that you can choose to be better. And only realizing that and changing slowly and with the help of your friends
  • This is sooooo good. I always felt Draco had a garbage arc in the actual story. I wish this was how it was written, gives Slytherin some actual nuance.
  • This is such a cool story! This version actually makes Draco interesting the whole way through and not just at the end, like in the original story, and the life lessons Harry learns are still important. Plus, having the Basilisk on his side is just badass.

This is great, not only to make your main character more nuanced, but also to shut down cliches about Slytherin. Harry gets to be in a house his parents and friends weren't/aren't in, which creates a more diverse group of heroes, and you can show that Slytherin's resourcefulness, ambition and free spirit are great qualities, and that the house isn't filled with evil people.
  • Points in the first book: Slytherin - 472 Gryffindor - 312 However, swapping Harry's point losses that year of -52 we'd get 420 to 364. Add Dumbledore's bonuses, and this would be 480 to 474. If Harry and Ron didn't go help Hermione with the mountain troll, that's 5 fewer points each but also 5 she doesn't lose covering for them - 475 to 474. A much closer competition with Slytherin still ahead. At that point, I'd imagine Dumbledore would just have given Neville an extra point and caused the houses to tie. Both green and red banners is a far more interesting result considering they worked together!
  • @Fangs1978
I'm not sure Harry defeating Voldemort in Philosophers Stone would dissuade any Slytherins from thinking he might be an up and coming dark wizard. Dark Wizards generally operate under the "there can be only one" way of thinking. So no one would expect Harry not to fight Voldemort. Regardless, Slytherins gravitate toward power and success so between Harry winning them the house cup, winning all the quidditch games and defeating Voldemort I think it safe to say that all Slytherins that aren't the children of hardcore Death Eaters would be cheering him and cozying up to him. So it's far more likely Draco would be the outcast rather than Harry. Draco would still have his small clique of wannabe Death Eaters, but as long as the wind appears to be blowing due Harry then no Slytherin will be turning their back on him dark wizard or no.

I LOVE the idea of Harry actually being able to command the basilisk and convincing it with Voldemort's hypocrisy lol Edit: DRACO FREES DOBBY I LOVE IT
