Howdy! Guys and gals. Chris (The crazy ex-Amish) and I spent a week exploring the Apostle Islands in beautiful Lake Superior. I hope this further inspires folks with an interest in shanty boats to realize you can go almost anywhere with a good one. Pick your days, and the whole world is your home. :)

If you're like me-and tried everything else-letting Jesus fill you with the Holy Spirit might be what you've been looking for the whole time. A good bible study group is a good place to start. If not now, when you're ready. He'll always be there waiting...

Exodus 14:14
"The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent."

Thanks for Watching, part:2 coming right up...

  • Brent: I lived in Northern Maine and Northern NH for 25 years. Did a lot of stream and lake fishing. Best deterrent for black flies is the biggest cheapest cigar u can stand. I don't smoke but when I fish I am a stogie guy. The goal is just to keep it lit. Lololol
  • Now yer in my neck of the woods! I used to live in Bayfield!🤩✨🌞 I know I mentioned that before, but I’m really looking forward to this one!
  • Just absolutely love these boat travel videos and the two wheels ones too! Thanks for sharing your journey.
  • Been all over Superior. One thing I don't miss are the black flies. The islands are beautiful. Loved finding agates along the shores. Love your videos. Thank you
  • Salt water scars on the beagle barge give so much character. Like an old barn, love it man. That wood has seen more of the country than most people will ever see.
  • @SHOE53
Boating on Lake Superior in the summer look pretty sweet but you can have the black flies.
  • @BR-bj3ot
You should have trolled on the way over! Fresh fish for dinner!!
  • Thanks so much! Beautiful tour. I also love lighthouses. Just visited the Navesink Twin Lights and Sandy Hook light in New Jersey. Fabulous ❤
  • That was fun up until the until the dam black flies I hate those things so much that it keeps me from heading back to the north country. Try this one thing I’ve used in Florida when the yellow flies go crazy. Buy a box of laundry dryer sheets rub them all over your skin and clothes and on the Wavey tuck them under the back of your hat and let it hang over your neck roll one into each sleeve put extras in a zip lock bag to reapply as needed and if nothing else you’ll smell better. It works great in Florida for sure. If you rub a little mineral oil on the rocks there luster will return or spray with clear coat that is the best way to keep seashells and such shiny. Okay enjoyed the ride let’s rock and roll on to the next adventure and Wavey I declar marshal law lashings will continue until morale improves.

I know your busy on the journeys, but may I suggest you could add a rock tumbler to help polish all the fancy rocks you find.
  • I have a small channel and it is so weird when someone mentions that they watch it. A younger gal at the local market was ringing up my items a while back and mentioned that she watches. I was surprised. When I wrote the column a lot more people knew of me because the little weekly paper covered all of western Crawford County PA. It must be kind of nice to run into ppl who watch you and W on your adventures. Take care. xo

What a fun adventure & it’s even better that you have a friend to share it with 😊- Black flies are dreadful- but there are products out there that should be safe for the Greatest Beagle ever ❤
  • I never go to Upper Peninsula Michigan until late September/ early October. Black flies and Mosquitoes are the worst before that time. We carry "Talstar" mixture w/water to spray around our campsite. Kills insects for 60 days. One oz of Talstar to one gallon of water.

Hope everything is going alright with Mr. Gossip ( you’ll know who that is! What a lost man he is!
  • @MayhemRv
I sure enjoyed your video. Subscribed and will be looking for part 2. 👍
  • To me, there is something just so amazing about wide-open water. Thanks Brenton, excellent video.
  • Enjoyed the video. How about that classic early 1960's lapstrake Cruiser next to your dingy on the beach? Yes the flies are bad but they keep it from becoming Wisconsin Dells or worse, Disneyland. The Islands funnel the wind so at times it is hard to find shelter.
  • Great video beautiful places to see . I have to wonder in that 300 to 500ft water are there any fish down there . Keep on keeping on. Uncommon loon hmm makes me think of some people lol.
  • I learned about the great loop from your channel. I’m about to buy a pontoon boat to build my shanty shack on. Thank you. Maybe I’ll see ya out there somewhere 👍 either way thanks for the inspiration!
  • Uncommon Loon! Thought came to mind before I had confirmation. 🤠 When you announced your intents to Shanty Boat the Apostles, I admit to being a bit concerned. Personal experiential reasons, so I am glad to see this episode went smooth. Living life. Good On Ya 🙋🏻‍♂️
