"Psychopaths are notorious for not answering the question posed them or for answering in a way that seems unresponsive to the question'. You just described 98% of politicians.

Beware the ones who seek your pity, they prey on empathy.

my best friend is an extremely empathetic and compassionate person, i have personally seen so many psychopaths target her and manipulate her. it wasn’t so obvious at the time because i too couldn’t tell who they were but as we’ve grown up it’s becoming more and more obvious to the both of us when people are taking advantage of her kindness. It just so strange that she seems to be a magnet for that type of person. predators really have an eye out for what type of person they take advantage of and it’s so gross.

Psychopaths will find you guilty of something even if they've just made it up!!

Schools need to be educating kids at appropriate developmental stages about psychopathy and narcissism. It is a public health concern.

I've heard it said that trauma from interacting with a psychopath is more difficult to overcome than any other trauma. It will destroy your ability to feel connected with other humans, and will also disconnect you from yourself, Stay away from people who lie, and stay way from people who actively try and convince you of why you shouldn't listen to yourself.
  • It's funny how when others post videos about psychopathy and how to like spot them, the predators can see videos, and as said by predators are able to mimic such ideology like their victims, it's only a short amount of time that they are able to learn about their flaws and are able to adjust to it and conceal their true personality.

It’s looking in their eyes that you can tell.

The damage dealt by the psychopath says more about the weaknesses of our society than of the psychopath itself. We are deeply vulnerable against people that pathologically lie.

‘Looking at the eyes of a psychopath, is like looking at the eyes of a reptile’ So true.

I am a diagnosed psychopath. Seen many therapists and psychologists all my life. Only one has ever got me right and indeed when she told me what I am I never saw her again because I felt exposed.
  • I dealt with psychopaths for decades in the prison/jail system, they are an interesting group. Their psychopathy runs along a continuum from street hustles to someone void of empathic feelings. Some were nice men/women, other were obnoxious, demanding, entitled and aggressive. It always amazed me at how entitled they were, always demanding certain things as if everyone has to stop what they were doing and cater to the client's needs/wants. They could quickly become angry when they did not get what they beloved they were entitled to. One guy demanded that the jail make him a birthday cake and when that did not happen he filed grievances after grievance. He became enraged that his demand was not met.

A very common mistake is showing empathy for psychopaths. Don't fall for that trap

I've always been initially distrusting of overly charismatic or charming people. It often feels like they have an agenda. It's always safer to make a type 1 error.

Excellent description and review. Unfortunately most people in the population will never truly understand these diabolical people unless they are subjected to being targeted by one or more of them.

One way I have heard described psychopath vs sociopath is imagine eating something and you end up with a wrapper. You toss the wrapper and it never crosses your mind ever again. You feel no empathy for it, you don't worry if it's okay, you don't even fully recall if you even did toss it. A psychopath is the same to their victims. A sociopath on the other hand will keep that wrapper near just to make sure he knows he threw it and enjoys the feeling of treating it like the nothing it is
  • @lethargy764
important thing to note is a lot of people whom you might think are psychopaths are actually just people being dickheads, or sociopathic, which is really just a way of saying that someone is exhibiting psychopathic traits but not a full blown psychopath.

The main thing I don’t think most people realize is that psychopaths, many of them, are very good at appearing to be a good, normal, genuine person. They are very charming too. I learned this the hard way. A year and a half into a relationship, that I thought was great. I learned this person was not who I thought they were, and they were lying about everything. We had mutual friends, and no one knew any of this stuff, and wouldn’t believe it if I told them.
  • The best advice I ever got was to never trust anyone under no circumstances .
