This is the perfect universal start no matter you skill. It doesn't require you to commit to build in one spot. If you build in a spot and you change your mind or its too dangerous, you can't move your base. Though with house boat you can move your base, and you can build most buildings on it. I remember watching this vid almost a year ago. This is honestly super nostalgic, and what got me into the game.

I have to say I'm quite proud : first start on the game, I've found the boat, and builted my own home-boat during the first day + a base camp on an island. Now I'm looking for tips to have a great start and found that I've currently done a good start only using intuition. ^^ This game is gonna be great guys ! :p

Love your The forest videos! Can’t wait to see what adventures await for this season. Also, I honestly don’t know what I’m doing wrong but I cannot get my dang strength up. I have no clue my tree count and I’ve tried just tnting when I need wood and eating of course but it won’t seem to raise. I do notice if I over eat a bit it goes up? Maybe I’m not taking in enough calories? I try to burn less then what I eat, and I notice when I start burning more that’s obviously when strength takes a hit. I might start making stews and really bulking on the calories and see if that helps. Anyways, I look forward to this season. Your videos are just always visually gorgeous and so entertaining. :) awesome work.

I just started playing a day or two ago (thanks steam sales :D) and after testing out a few places I've started building a houseboat at the same location you chose. So far it seems a great spot to get started early game.
