I can't believe this guy knew most refrences, but didn't know the robot you battle is actually your custom one, meaning you can battle Metal Sonic

The Bubble Was From Sonic 2 For The Game Gear. Triple Trouble Was The First With The Animation.

I really appreciate the side-by-side comparison! The editing clearly shows a lot of effort and passion.

References that I found in this game: 1. The ability "bullet" has arrows that indicate how fast you'll charge much like the spindash's functionality in Sonic Labyrinth 2. The pose Tails does after completing an act is from the title screen of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 3. The pose Knuckles does after completing an act and Classic Amy's in-game artwork with her modern outfit are from their respective artworks of Sonic Advance 4. Rail grinding in a 2D Sonic was a thing for Sonic and Amy in Sonic Advance and for Tails and Knuckles in Sonic Advance 2 5. The concept of collecting one chaos emeralds per zone first started in Sonic the Hedgehog (8-bit) 6. Cyber Station Zone has a huge resemblance to Techno Base from Sonic Advance 2 7. The Mosasaurus chase in Bridge Island Zone has a huge resemblance to the Orca chase in act 1 of Emerald Coast from Sonic Generations (Nintendo 3DS)

The water tunnel sequence with grabbing poles actually first appeared in Labyrinth Zone in Sonic 1

The rotating Bonus Stages are like Sonic 1's Special Stages, but they particularly resemble a cut Bonus Stage for Sonic CD with the same multiple layers of rotating level. Splats also appears in the Debug Mode of both Mania and the Retro Engine version of Sonic 1. The trap that appeared in Mania Adventures actually first appeared in a Sonic Jam animation.

2:18 Sonic Forces was the first time that the bunny was introduced in a game... Guess it wasnt the original Sonic hunny design though. πŸ€”

I didnt know about the Eggmobile being different depending on the character you choose in Frozen Base Act 2! Really nice attention to detail there.
  • @Mr.IDK07
Splats also appears in the Sonic 1 remake for IOS and Android if you use debug mode but that one was also made by Christian Whitehead and Head Canon it's an official remake but it was also made by fans

Very late into the party but here's my contribution to the subject too. One of the monologues Sonic will yap out in Sonic Frontiers is "I wish we were sharing an umbrella Amy". In Sonic Superstars in one of the final levels of the game there's a drawing of Sonic and Amy sharing an umbrella.

Whait. Sonic Mania is a offical Fan-Game. I thought that isn’s just Sonic’a Team game.
  • @RenAM2
Splats also became Figurine for a Obscure Sonic & Knuckles Figurine Collection in 1994 made by TOMY. He was included as a set with Sonic, Tails and a badnik. The set had so many characters that wasn’t even in the game like Metal Sonic and many badniks from Sonic 1 and 2.

i see no one pointing out that the dark sections in speed jungle act 2 might be a reference to sonic 4 episode 1
  • I love the references from sonic superstars, i know the game is hard but once u fully playit and practice it (like sonic games are supposed to be played) it becomes easy and you can blast at speeds through the level
  • @smithconor-zk7ol
I love the video! It's clear that you put effort into editing.

I got extremely excited when I got through Frozen Base Zone and found myself playing the first level of Fantasy Zone
  • @Kookie_13_
Golden capital was actually a reference to an unused stage in sonic 1 complete with an unused design for the loop de loops. I think the stage was called golden zone

Ian Flynn has confirmed the moon in superstars is not the end.
