Happy New Year! Here's to many great games to be released in 2022. As for this episode, let's throw it back to 2005 when the Fire Emblem series finally arrived to Western shores with the release of Path of Radiance of the GameCube. As always, thanks for watching!

Path of Radiance might be my favorite Fire Emblem game, and I think a lot of it has to do with how much I love the characters in this game compared to other Fire Emblem games. Ike is easily my favorite protagonist in the Fire Emblem series, and the fact that he has such humble origins is a big factor for why that is. Hopefully Nintendo remakes or re-releases it so that more players have the chance to check out this gem!

The sequel, Radiant Dawn, is my favorite game of all time!

I've never played the Gamecube Fire Emblem games. Would love to check them out someday
  • If only this game weren't so expensive...Still, it is obviously harder than entry points like Awakening and 3 Houses [the only two FE games I've played], and looks so cool for the reasons you described. Also, Happy New Year to you too.
  • I was so thrilled when i found a copy of this at a Gamestop in an after Christmas sale of 50% off making it less than $10, still have the copy and thought i had kept the receipt in the case as i usually do w/ used games but didn't find it last time i looked. Knowing how expensive this game is now, i will never sell it seeing as would likely not be able to get it again.

I'm from the US, I had no idea who they were when I played super smash

This Fire Emblem was THE watershed moment that raised the bar for presentation for nearly every game going forward, and let the west show high critical acclaim for the franchise. This game's execution and real world context has not been replicated, with a slight exception going to Awakening's launch
  • One of the best SRPGS ever. Top 3 FE game. Comically bad voice acting though. Helium voiced gerbils voice both Ike and his sister.
  • Im gonna be honest, I loved the game to death. Very challenging but there's always a solution! But my rose tinted glasses fell down when I reached the final boss and I couldn't damage him with any of my units. I seemed to have soft locked myself somehow. Very frustrating considering how I clawed my way to the end. Never managed to get past the final stage because of that.
  • @AlexTamayo.
I really like your voice, mate! Not only is your natural voice great as it is, but it also sounds like you've had training.

I'd love to see a video on phantasy star online and culdcept saga

This is a pretty good video! There's a few mistakes overall, such as equip-able skills, And the stories almost always being connected in the world in some way. I can't wait for the What's so great about Radiant Dawn, because that's going to be incoherent screaming and the game showing little mercy. But isn't that expected for a game sequel when you play on Normal?

I didn't get far in the first game on GBA. Gave up. Sometimes I regret that.

I love this IP, but even more than that I suck at it and I can hardly complete a game😐

I know the animations hit harder, but I can't help but love the spritework of the GBA games so much more. Especially the critical animations, which haven't been matched by any FE to date. I admit that it would be a hard thing to achieve though, given that the realistic models can't reasonably match the absurd movement of the GBA sprites.
  • This game definitely did not sell well. It is more of a cult classic revered by fans of the series. It was very difficult (no quality of life features to baby newbies) and was lacking in terms of presentation compared to other titles. What few FMV scenes they had were completely ruined by the atrocious voice acting. I think the game was too ambitious for its budget and would have been better off sticking to handheld in terms of sales anyways. This game had to compete with FFX, and offered mostly still portraits and text based dialogue. Really this is more of an N64 game than a GC game in terms of the tech (if N64 cartridges could magically hold enough data to make an RPG for it).
