God bless the producer who decided to make all this one video instead of three separate videos
  • It's odd seeing John talk about his drug problem in such recent language and not like "back in college, I smoked crack and now I'm a square"

Mulaney was sober from 2005 to 2020. He has 15 years of recovery under his belt. Relapse happens but you don’t lose that clean time experience you had. Everyone’s recovery looks different and as a recovering addict I am proud he got up and talked even laughed about it because you have to! It helps remind you how it was and where you are now and where you are going! Well done John!

Seth treating John similar to how my friends and family have treated me and still treat me during my recovery. With love and respect and empathy. It's enough to make me cry.
  • You know who's probably really happy about John and Olivia having a baby? John's real estate agent EDIT: Hey I apologize if this was in poor taste, I tend to not think before I speak
  • @purpunknat
Love seeing friends, especially men, saying "I love you" without a hint of mockery or humor, just genuinely and openly caring for one another. The world needs more love.
  • @JC-im6nf
"Olivia and this baby have saved me from myself" is arguably the scariest thing a recovering addict could say. That is a humongous red flag and I pray this does not end up the way many people fear it might.
  • I love how real this is. Instead of it being "fine" he actually is talking about real-life problems and real-life events. You can tell that he's being vulnerable. I wish him and his family all the best, and good on you Seth Meyers for helping a friend!

"John Mulaney tells Seth about his eventful year." That is a wee bit of an understatement. Glad he is doing better.

In recovery, I’ve heard it said to newly sober people, “Get a plant, and if it’s still alive after a year, get a dog.” It’s widely advised to not start a relationship in the first two years of recovery, because getting sober is just the beginning of the real work of finding out why you needed the substance and learning other ways to cope without it. That takes time and a dedication that is very energy consuming. I love John and I hope he stays sober and dedicated to healing.
  • He’s lucky he has friends like Seth who love him and had an intervention to help him.
  • @paganiniwannabe
John is so himself when he’s around Seth, and especially in this clip. They are true friends.
  • @theheeze
Gotta say, Seth is the only late night host who can handle this tone well. Seriously glad to see this kind of content
  • @gerk7238
Mixed feelings, but a takeaway is Seth Meyers is an angel of a human.
  • @mjacton
All the people who are trying to analyze this are ignoring that Seth Meyers is one of his best friends, and he'd make sure he's okay after this I'm sure.
  • @aswertyuiol
Seth is probably one of the only late-night hosts I genuinely like and respect. You can really tell in this interview that they're good friends and really care about each other, and I wish John nothing but the best.
  • @rfldss89
Seth is the dad of the friend group. He already had dad energy, but this cemented it into the annals of history.
  • @siiiiiuu7
Seth is truly that one guy you'd want in your corner during a difficult time. He's just a real solid human being
  • @alizamoon6842
When Seth put his hand over John’s when he said he’s now grateful for them saving his life, that was so sweet. ❤️ I hope hope he’ll be okay and stuck in this recovery, he’s having an awful lot happen while just beginning this path, and that’s going to complicate it a lot, and I hope he’ll get through this; all the love. 🙏🏼💕

My wife and I saw him yesterday in New Orleans and his show was amazing! He owned his truth and as a recovering addict myself he was genuine and hilarious. And yes he opened with acknowledging it wasn’t ideal to be in a new relationship right after rehab. Johns show was his best stand up set to date.
