We travel to Ljubljana, Slovenia, to meet superstar Communist philosopher and cultural theorist Slavoj Zizek. The "most dangerous philosopher in the West" talks about his new film, The Pervert's Guide to Ideology, and lectures us on the importance of being on time. If you're curious about that poster of Stalin on his wall, it's "purely to annoy idiots" when they visit.

  • @incoblinko
"Do you want some fucking fruit juice or something?"
  • Being a Slovenian I can finally say I saw Žižek today. He was drinking wine and crossed a red light. Love that man

Quick notice here: This guy has now written 80+ books and counting, has starred in two movies, has countless public talks and is a professor - yet his living room is the size of an average college dorm. Zizek really is someone who lives by the words he puts down in writing.

"what's this stalin photo" "I keep that there so that idiots ask me about it" r e k t
  • Zizek is literally the incarnation of "never judge a book by its cover". It's very clear that he's insanely educated in not only political philosophy (among others) but also popular culture.

If you're from Balkans, you know Zizek sounds like a typical Balkan taxi driver. Difference is, they are usually ignored when they rant, this one is encouraged to speak
  • "Seriously, can I give you some fucking fruit juice or something" My new go-to hospitality style
  • My dad met him, apparently the first words out his mouth were "Ugh, life is hell. Hello, I'm Slavoj."

“An intellectual says a simple thing in a hard way. An artist says a hard thing in a simple way.” ― Charles Bukowski
  • 10:45 are you kidding me? The quote "all revolutions happen when things get a little bit better and the expectations explode and are dissapointed" is exactly what Frank Herbert said in his Dune series - actually his character Pardot Kynes said. Never have I thought I would hear it from someone in the real world so precisely articulated.

“Seriously can I give you some fucking fruit juice or Coke?” I love this guy.

Props to Alex Miller. Well prepared for the interview, both in Zizek’s work and topics pertaining to him; as well as contributing and evolving the conversation with mindful subjects.

I am from Slovenija and i can say that i have just found him out today at 18 years old. I can also say that he is sadly probably more respected by foreigners than Slovenians because no one really talks aboat him as much as they should.
