I purchased a 10 OZT ENGLEHARD BAR at the local pawnshop and I paid $335 + $30.99 tax = $365 and SD Bullion is selling the same at the time $410 + tax = $445 so I did ok saving $71 bucks and 4 days of a waiting for it 😂$4.00 over spot

We do need to remember dealers gave costs to do business so they have to charge a premium when you buy metals.

I check spot price and know what I want before I go into the shop. I ask what he wants for it, knowing what I'm willing to pay before hand. If he's too expensive I tell him that it's more than I can spend right now and I leave, letting him know that I will return down the road. Simple as that. I don't argue. I don't dicker. I don't complain and I don't waste his time and he doesn't waste mine. It's a great relationship.

My LCS was selling generic buffalo rounds with a premium of $4.50 when spot was $21 last year. Fast forward...out of curiosity months later I asked how much he would buy them for and he didn't bat an eye telling me .50 back of spot! This week I may see if he'll give me spot for the gold I bought from him. Not holding my breath!

Kentucky charges sales tax on pm. If it wasn't for that added cost it'd be cheaper to buy online.

My LCS checks spot at time of purchase so I just ask, what are you charging over spot. One particular local pawn shop tests all their silver and doesn’t always upgrade their pricing to keep pace with rising spot, being a pawn shop, so I can often get great deals.
