Eight weeks after the collapse of the Francis Scott Key bridge, the Dali cargo ship was moving again. Monday

Several tug boats pulled the ship away from the bridge, back into the shipping channel and to a local port. The Dali lost power and steering control before slamming into a bridge support causing it to collapse.

The ship had been stuck under tons of wreckage. Salvage efforts including the use of explosives and giant floating cranes have now freed the ship.

The Dali's 22 crew members weren't hurt and have been on the ship since the crash including during those controlled explosions. They had to stay on board because of US regulations that any ship must have a minimum staff at all times.

  • @PaxilRose
Thank God! Maybe I'll get my Temu package now.
  • I am a metal fabricator in Baltimore, and have done some work on these ships. They are f***ing huge! You have no idea how big they actually are until you are on one.
  • @jman6109
China would have a new bridge built by now!!
  • So many bridges collapsing under odd circumstances...... Nothing to be concerned about. Joey says everything is FANTASTIC
  • Eventually they will find the electrical problem. Pretty sure I remember the company that operates this vessel making a public statement that while in port they had multiple power failures and were working on the problem. There must have been a massive short circuit that tripped the breakers killing all power on the ship. The vessels departure was delayed as a result. Whoever made the decision to disembark without having resolved the electrical problem will be in deep do-doo. Surely, the captain and the chief engineer but also those whom the captain reports to. However, the buck always stops with the captain.
  • @jggrimm
they must have been getting paid by the hour. 8 weeks. ridiculous.
  • @demah8655
Why does it have power and can move? Why couldn't it correct the turn before hitting the bridge?
  • Actually, they stayed on board because they were are investigated by the FBI
  • Yeah , only 3 weeks past normal demolition, everyone had to get there grift -- sickening
  • Asking tax payers for the $ who crashed that big fucking thing when power didnt work earlier
  • How much you think Wes is going to charge the American tax payer to repair the Dali. I mean it was our bridge that broke it right? It's going to make Wes rich. He doesn't want the cost coming from his pocket, and it has to be fixed.Hmmm.
