Monthly walking tour of Pike Place Market for November 2021. We're almost at the 12 month mark with this series, and this one is a little different. I began my walk in Belltown to give a sense of what it might be like to walk from this popular neighborhood in the morning.

In my opinion, 3rd Ave is probably the "most dangerous" street in Belltown and downtown in general. There's a few areas in particular that are sketchy and I point these out in this video. I know people who are looking to travel or move to Seattle often like to ask how safe downtown is, and hopefully this will give you an idea.

Belltown is centrally located and ideal for folks who want to stay close to all the action that is downtown. This is the residential area of downtown.

This market on this date is beginning to feel a lot like the holidays. Ornaments and decorations are being put up and you can just feel the holiday spirit in the air. I hope you enjoy this video.

I used to live in that alley. I made the same walk many times, cold, hungry, needing to steal my next bottle of wine. I couldn't seem to pull myself up and out of homelessness and desperation in Seattle. I gave much thought and prayer to my situation. I realized I needed to get out of Seattle. The flight I wanted had me settling for a Greyhound. I live in a different part of the USA now, drive a paid-for new automobile, and am paying mortgage on my $300,000 home on a small acreage. I don't know exactly why I YouTube searched Seattle. Probably I needed to see where I had been and openly thank God during Thanksgiving for his mercy and grace. And invite our prayers for our nation. God bless you.

I did a whole lot of walking and covered many topics in this one. Hope you enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃
  • When I lived in Seattle to attend the UW I worked at Maximilien near First and Pike. I missed my own country and working there helped with my homesickness. Sad to see the Macy's closed. Downtown was beautiful during the Christmas Holidays. I walked by myself everywhere without a problem but that was six years ago. More and more Seattle reminds me of San Francisco with the stark contrast between wealth and poverty. Macys sold for 580 million dollars and that was for the dirt it sits on. Billions of dollars in real estate with the homeless sleeping in doorways.

Thanks for making this video, it has been very helpful to me. I have been looking at moving (since the jobs are drying up where I live) and your walking tours have been very helpful! You give an honest view of the city and don't embellish or add politics to your videos. This honest information is helping me and I believe it will help others too. Keep up the Awesome Walking Tours!
  • Born n raised in Seattle. It's not that dangerous. Always an occasional crazy person out on the street but never felt dangerous. Just avoid sketchy looking people. 👍

Thanks for the alternate walking route this time! I’d love to see more videos of you going on different routes for your morning walks. It would be nice to spotlight individual places too. Wherever you get your coffee for the day, a restaurant or a local shop! That lets us see why we would want to go there too, not just from word of mouth. And the longer videos are excellent! More to see closer to real time! Love the channel! Love the videos! Keep up the great work!!!

I had finished the whole 50 minutes of your feature. It is very informative and well done. I had shared your video with my family members in the Philippines and friends here in Seattle. Thanks 👌👍

Another wonderful walking tour Mr. Lao Ocean. Thank you , and Happy Thanksgiving.
  • I live here. It's not that dangerous. Common sense and be aware of your surroundings. Just like you would anywhere else.

Me and my wife moved to Seattle just a few weeks ago and your videos have been super helpful for finding areas to eat at and cool places to walk around! We've tried a few of the restaurants you've visited in your vids and they've all been fantastic. Thanks for doin' what you do man and thanks for sharing a bit of Laotian culture with us too. Oh speaking of that, I heard you say you're planning on going somewhere warm soon. Well, Thailand just opened up its borders (maybe Laos will do the same soon?), would love to see you make some more Southeast Asia content some time

Thanks for the tour. A bit too long for me and had to stop about half way. I’ll try to get back to finish it. Ive never been afraid to walk around Seattle during the day. It’s life in action. Thanks again!
  • I found the street guys very helpful. I arrived in Seattle with mostly English pounds expecting to exchange to dollars at the Westlake Centre as I did before not knowing most of the stores had gone. Soon found I could not exchange my money anywhere unless I had an american bank account. They advised me on a bank on 4th Avenue which was near my hotel. But it turned out to be an ATM only. So with only $9 left I had to get the light rail to the Airport and changed my money there, at a lower exchange rate. Note to self, exchange to US dollars before travelling.

Thank you so much for this video. I left Seattle 5 years ago (after living there for 40 years). Part of me misses it, and then I look out at the blue skies and the palm trees in Vegas and I think ..... nah .... Thank you so much for walking past the Turkish Delight. I use to eat there all the time. Great memories. Thank you so very much!!!!!

Hi Denis new subscriber here! ❤️ liked and subscribed! I live 40 miles south of Seattle, in Lakewood right next to Tacoma. Years ago we would go up to Seattle and go to the 5th Ave, the market, Seattle center, football and baseball games, but not so much anymore. We are older and quite frankly don’t feel as safe as we used to there. Doesn’t help listening to the news on how bad it is there some days. But I sure enjoyed your walking tour! I always say go early rather then later! You walked around at the perfect time! I will look at the rest of your videos now and catch up! Keep these coming!
  • Thank you a excellent vide I'm from Seattle and to see places where I used to walk, it was amazing.
