My guy actually made an 11 hour documentary, absolutely insane..................... that I'm gonna watch the whole damn thing on my day off tomorrow. Time perfectly spent. Love your stuff man, I really hope you keep going forever
  • Even if you disagree with Derek even if you hate his guts even if you think he’s an evil heretic he’s going to hell. You have to at least give him respect for putting the time and effort and research into providing us these documentaries especially 11 hours long. Bravo đź‘Źđź‘Źđź‘Źđź‘Źđź‘Ź.
  • This documentary covers everything in Genesis from a mythological angle, showing you that this ancient book was cleverly crafted from earlier mythologies into it's own origin story for the Israelites, or better yet, Judeans sometime after the Babylonian captivity with the rise of Persia and Greek hellenism. I seriously hope you enjoy binge-watching this one.

Excellent Work. Very Impressive. I already knew the Old Testament was full of a hell of a lot of BS. But after watching this video I will never see the Old Testament the same way. Thanks
  • @PinkiePi

Really fascinating stuff as usual, I used to be part of a pretty fundamentalist religious community and what ultimately broke my faith in that and led me to leave was finding out how literally many of my friends seemed to take the stories in Genesis and my inability to reconcile a literal Adam and Eve with what we know about evolution, since then that story has lived in my head rent free for a while and I’m starting to see the Bible more and more as a collection of mythological stories the same way works the Iliad and Odyssey are, they may not be historical events and they’re pretty messed up but you can still get something out of them. The most controversial thing I ever heard in college wasn’t the stuff that contradicted my belief system at the time but rather that the agricultural revolution was not only not a good thing but that it was humanity’s worst mistake due to the increased labor and growing inequality for example, I can’t help but wonder if the authors of Genesis had a similar mindset and many of these stories not only are retelling of earlier myths but are also cultural memories of that transition away from the hunter gatherer lifestyle that was common through most of humanity’s existence (Cain was a farmer and Abel was a pastoralist after all). I once heard a rabbi say that the Genesis authors also hated cities in contrast to the Babylonians thus we got the Tower of Babel story for example (for a long time I’ve wondered if that story was making fun of the existence of ziggurats).
