I love Origami King. The desert part is my favourite, and I love using the Gold Boots and Gold Hammers.

3:54 In case anytime is wondering, the secret to enjoying the Werehog levels (for me, at least) is to first or once or two levels into strength, then concentrate on maxing out your move list as soon as possible since those moves also serve as very powerful movement modifiers, making both the combat and the platforming faster, flashier, and more fun. If you're just button mashing, then you are going out of your way to play it in the most boring way possible by refusing to interact with most of the mechanics. Also, remember that the lower the enemies' HP is, the more time you get for the QTEs.
  • I have a very weird perspective of the Paper Mario series as a whole. So I might as well drop it here. Paper Mario on Nintendo 64 was always an absolute classic to me, the fact I could progress as far as I did in that game as I could as a kid really made me come back to the series again and again. However I didn't know Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door existed until the lead up to Super Paper Mario. Now everyone's brain is different and apologize for this, but TTYD being more hallway like in world design, just more complex in general, and being such a long game,, I had minimal interest past say the second chapter when I was younger. I did a full playthrough finally with the remake and I still only find it "a good RPG game" as a fan of few RPGs. I somehow found the game less exciting and "less Mario like" as it went on. Which is fine for RPG fans but it has Mario on the cover and I'm like fixated on Mario. So Super Paper Mario happened and it being a platformer made it Mario enough to me to fall for it, that and the side love story. In some ways Super Paper Mario is a bigger departure than TTYD but I felt like I was playing Mario again. Sticker Star is an abomination it's all Mario paint and no substance I think there's a balance to these things I'll address at the end, but Paper Mario I feel is best when it has its own identity but still feels like Mario because at the end of the day kids and those young at heart are here for Mario. I didn't get far in Color Splash I know it's better than Sticker Star. Bus still doesn't have enough to it. The Origami King however hits it just right, we're back in the Mushroom Kingdom but something wild is happening and the gameplay has its own flavor. The Origami King really reminds me of Super Paper Mario with it's hybrid play system with RPG elements. The out of combat elements with the Papercraft Monsters, especially remind me of Super Paper Mario. TLDR: All this to say, my favorite Paper Mario's still feel plenty Mario but are also still more accessible to a general audience and have their own flare, and TTYD, Sticker Star, and Color Splash all miss the mark for me. TTYD being to much RPG. The others being too Mario not enough other elements.
  • i just got done playing origami king today i tried to keep my hp at 100(ended up 120) to keep some semblance of challenge the game was fun I'm trying to think of ways to balance the economy, maybe limiting weapons to basic boots and hammer so fire/ice flowers type weapons are more useful
  • I like origami king, but I think color splash is a lot better. Also origami king has an absolutely awful ending
