Cherokee Bill’s character is so good thanks to Lakeith Stanfield man is literally one of the best actors around so underrated

I love Cherokee Bill, but I'll never forgive him for not giving Jim Beckwourth that draw 😔

“Why do they always count down so slow”. That’s everybody’s weakness.

YES! I kept telling people that Cherokee Bill NEVER touted himself as the quickest draw, it was always someone else saying that. Great breakdown.

There is something about Lakeith Stanfield that immediately makes me pay attention whenever he comes on screen. Even in roles like in Knives Out, he's extremely memorable to me. And this movie was no different.

This film is so underrated. Such a shame it went straight to streaming.

Only a kid with no idea thinks like the kid who wants to be the fastest. Men with experience are like Bill. As he said "It's not who's fastest, it's who's alive and who's dead." Being flashy, being fast, being confident, acting tough and cool. None of it matters against someone with a steady hand that knows when to shoot.
  • The whole “dishonorable duel” move was also used BY John Wayne in El Dorado. The concept of an honor system being a potential weakness is an invaluable lesson that I wish was explored in more media and in a more positive light.
  • “This film snuck under the radar” BP and WP really live in two different worlds bc this was all over my timeline for weeks lol

It's a gunfight not a tea party, opportunity waits for no one.
  • His character was poetic. I kept replaying his scenes. Well acted and well written. Almost got sad when he bit the dust lol

It's the fact that Cherokee Bill could've made it out alive but abandoned his art of war philosophy in an actual duel.
  • I worked in set during shooting. I cleaned the bathrooms and sanitized EVERYTHING for these actors. Note: Idris Elba is a lot taller in person.
  • He never lied though. When jim asked him if he was the guy who was so quick he put two in someones back. Bill said, "nah, im the guy that shoots other guys for talking too much". Then stood on that sentiment when he was about to shoot nat in the back, by saying "do you always talk this much".

Cherokee bill was honorable. The problem with everyone is that duel is not a game like most people see it is. Life or death is serious and he was honorable by not tricking people and by preserving what was precious to him…. His life

It's interesting how Cherokee Bill's expression is one of quiet reflection and sadness every time he kills someone, or is challenged to do so. It is a crime against nature that this isn't regarded at the same level as Jordan Peele films, because so much lied beneath the surface, and the art direction was excellent. I couldn't think of a single character I didn't enjoy watching, and I loved the sequence where Mary is being told about Trudy's first kill and the only person she loved- the way she slowly, slowly peeled the apple, round and round and round. The more skin that came off, the darker the story, until the apple is entirely unpeeled ...and there is no story left to tell. It was an excellent way to flesh out her character. I have nothing but positive things to say about this movie. ps we love Cuffee in this house - The Harder They Fall says trans rights <3

The sheriff warned him that the flashy stuff was going to get him killed and he didn’t listen. Even if Jim was faster, Bill was the one who won.
  • A dishonorable man died an honorable death 😭 This actor deserved more recognition for this scene
