  • When you use fields of fire, you don't actually need to hit. "After your unit has resolved its attacks, select one enemy unit that was targeted by one or more of those attacks."

    To be honest I think Jordan was fairly unlucky with his rolls against some good saving throws, on average those two Dorns go down in one round of combat to those two units, I have used both myself against guard and they generally wreck tanks. Though I do think the Blood Angels points drops were a tad harsh when the army had only just started emerging and doing decently from the +2s change, prior to that BAs were firmly a low 40-45% win rate army in that detachment. Taking hits to Lemartes, Death Company and Sanguinary priests hurts and isn't really compensated by the odd other drop here and there. I really wish GW would take note that nerfing a mid to low armies top performing units doesn't mean those units are OP it means that the other options are not good so people don't have much other choice. They did the same to Marines generally and now you don't see inceptors, aggressors, etc. because they are just overcosted and the other points changes didn't replace them so overall the faction hurts. If a faction is in that top bracket pushing that 55% win rate or above, sure nerf the most used units, but trying to internal balance a faction that is 45-48% and taking away their best units will just make them worse as we see.

    Great Battle report
    What's crazy is Guard has a sub 50% win rate yet there are Blood Angel comments throughout the game like "Oh ya that's fair, hitting on 2's rerolling 1's", or "Look how much you can take for Guard."
    At the end of the day the Guard player had the key tools of 10th Ed. Index Guard: Lord Solar Master Vox Squad, Ursula Creed FoFF (fields of fire factory), Scout sentinels for army wide reroll 1's, exterminator auto cannon russ for Withering Hail, a single Basilisk for straight up CC in wh 40k, and Iron Hand Straken for the absolute missile of a 1 man army he is. Honestly that was awesome with the advance, assaults shotgun secondary play, learned something new!
    Load up on those tools and throw in a mix of whatever infantry blob combo/armor/elites/actioneers/whatever you want and you can't go wrong with Guard.
    I will say it really seemed like BA wanted him to over watch turn 1 so that he wouldn't have enough CP to reinforcement the sentinel ;-) . I gotta say overwatch is really bad and a trap unless you have a unit setup to do it, like heavy weapon squads or maybe a hell hound. Imagine if all that CP went into smoke for the tanks instead
    my last point:
    Imperial Guard player is pretty aware that 10th is an edition of vehicles. Guard have the best vehicles in the game, and he outnumbered them in vehicles 3:1. Turn 1 couldn't even kill a single scout sentinel. How are people not running 3 in a squad! hardly see it. You really need to bring some lascannon equivalents or something, enough to kill a tank a turn, even if it means concentrating your whole army.

    At 41:45 when the Death Company were going to Overwatch the tank as it Fell Back, the tank moved out of range of the Death Company's Inferno Pistols and the Overwatch didn't happen.

    I'm fairly inexperienced with 40k 10th Ed; but from my understanding the Overwatch could have still happened.

    The Inferno Pistols have the Pistol Keyword, meaning they can fire whilst in engagement range. The Overwatch Strategum states you can fire when an enemy starts or ends a Normal, Advance, Fall Back or Charge move.

    So they could have fired their pistols at the start of the fall back move. Am I interpreting this correctly?

    Am I crazy, when he deployed his Kasrkin they were 100% not fully within 3" of the hull of the Chimera. one side of the formation was at least 6" away. Or is it that the Chimera remianed stationary when they disembarked and thus made a normal move?

    I’ve never felt so sad for a blood angels player so early in a game 😢 poor Jordan looked like a defeated man at the end of turn 2.
  • One other note, if Barbara was in combat with the Chimera, it would not be able to overwatch the charging Leman Russ. Big guns never tire only applies in the controlling players shooting phase, and therefore, being in combat/engagement range prevents overwatch.

    think i spotted a missplay by guard, when the tank commander shot at the death company it benefitted from Fields of fire but it doesnt have the squadron keyword so should not have, so should have had ap -4 not -5 on the main gun. love the look of the army and really enjoyed watching

    I've run the numbers -- assuming hitting on 3s, rerolling hits with lethal hits is only worth it wounding on 6+, no statistical change on 5+, so never really worth for death company+Lemartes
