“Wokeism in the entertainment industry has made its way to Nashville.” Freedom and creating art go hand-in-hand, and wokeism is destroying both. Country singer-songwriter John Rich shares his moving story of how he got his start in music, dealing with failure, and never bending a knee to the woke mob. He also talks about patriotism, being a dad, and the American values his family instilled in him from an early age that led to his success.

Wokeness is killing culture as a whole. Let’s ignore and get rid of that nonsense and focus on what’s really important for the country and its people.

I figured this out a year ago, but I didn't call it "wokeness". I defined it to friends this way: the problem is country music is being made by people who don't like country music.

John Rich is one of the most straight forward honest guys left in country music! 👍👍🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🤘🏻🤘🏻
  • What a great message from someone who isn't guessing or repeating. He's lived everything he's talking about. That's a guy worth listening to

My dad was far from a preacher, but he made sure we always had what we needed. He was not educated but he was the hardest working man I've ever known
  • Never was a much of a Big and Rich fan but have always admired their heart. With that said, I had no idea how much of a Patriot Mr. Rich was until recently. God bless you sir.

Thank you for continuing to speak, write and sing the truth. I appreciate what you're doing Mr. Rich!

Finally someone speaks the truth! Can’t thank you enough John. Country music is definitely not what country music used to be. 👍👍

"Find one thing you can still control" Thanks man. I needed to hear this. Thanks
  • I respect the hell out of John Rich, and I’m a metalhead that grew up on the great outlaw country music. John’s the last of a dying breed that is honest and earned everything he has. Cheers, sir.
  • As a Christian songwriter who has written four albums and has struggled, this was about the most inspiring and encouraging testimony I could ever listen to. Thank you. I just love the "'power pen and paper" point. So true.
  • Keeping it ol' school, and keeping it real. ♡ so deeply appreciative for your music and message.

This is definitely my favorite PragerU video for multiple reasons. One, I'm a country boy myself and I love country music. I had already heard of Lonestar and Big and Rich but never really knew about John Rich. Two, I love how the way he is speaking out against the woke culture in country music because I've noticed it too and it is hard to deal with. Lastly, I love how great of a Texan he is and the pursuit he has for making known the problems of the culture. Thank You PragerU for bringing John in for this.

I'm here in Amarillo. I loved this! I spent years playing and singing around town with my husband and actually toured Germany for 19 glorious days playing Old West Music and songs I'd written. It wad never our money making "job". We did it as a second job. He's telling the truth of what Amarillo was but it's grown up quite a bit. I miss that smaller city. Thanks, PragerU for doing this one. I love the attitudes and principles John Rich exudes. So encouraging!!!

He has an humble bringing and he kept it close to his heart. He's an humble person that's why he was blessed with his talent.

You hit it right on the head “ As long as I’m still breathing the game ain’t over”. I live by these words everyday and I keep no secret about it
  • So I’m a Brit watching this video from the UK and I found it inspiring. As an outsider it looks to me like the Texans have not been affected by the woke disease. When I come to visit the USA I will want the opportunity to know real Americans, and I will come to Texas first.
  • @Spookje09
That was incredibly inspiring! I'm a 52yo old school punker that despises the woke culture and have just discovered the majesty of Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn. My wife grew up on all the classic country and it's exciting to discover it myself thanks to her. I am a dad of a young son and I will fight tooth and nail to prevent his future being ruled by despotic woke culture.
  • Well said John. No one mentions how this culture is going to affect our children's lives. We need to go back to when offending someone wasn't an offence.
  • @crystalsmith1581
Hearing him talk about this topic and knowing his perspective so deeply now makes me see why he crossed paths with Tom MacDonald!! I love it!! Keep it up John! Don’t let that light ever die out!! ❤❤
