Let's go to Beijing, China's capital. I will start the journey in Guangzhou in southern China and I decided to take the Chinese High-Speed train all the way to northern China. This journey is the world's longest high-speed train ride. It's incredible how well all parts of China are connected with the high-speed train. But will the journey from Guangzhou to Beijing be comfortable and stress free? This is my first time taking a high-speed train in China. Let's find out how it is!

China has done some incredible things in the past 30 years, man.

Experiencing is believing. I was on the train travelling at average 304km/h for 2 hours. The ride was smooth, quiet and comfortable. Happy to ride the high speed train 👍👍👍

I wish we could travel in Europe from Bulgaria to the Netherlands in 7 hours by train:)) China is living in the future, folks.

Nice. I have taken trains in China including this particular route a few years back. Chinese HS trains are the best in the world hands down and it's absolutely mind-boggling how it was even possible to build the whole thing and scale it to the size of the country that China is.

USA looks like a developing country when you see this modern infrastructure in China
  • I am also from Germany and will travel to China for a semester abroad in a few weeks, and your videos showing all of the details at different train stations and also the different restaurants and so on are really helpful. I am really looking forward to your next videos!

You can actually order take out food from your phone and deliver to your seat on the train.

    Ken,其实你在高铁上可以在一个叫12306的网站(也就是中国铁路的官方网站)点外卖。当你到达一个提供外卖的车站时,那里的工作人员会把食物送到你的位置上,真的非常方便。

Not a strict comparison, but 2298 km in 7h37min from Guangzhou South to Beijing West, while the fastest ICE from München Hbf via Berlin to Hamburg Hbf still needs about 6h to cover a distance of 612km, and the second class ticket costs 70-130 Euros depending on the departure time and the speed of the train in 1 day advance. The similar distance in China from Zhengzhou to Beijing (about 693km) takes only 2.5-3 hours (fastest service 2h11min) and a second class ticket with seat reservation costs 40-45 Euros.

with all the stops the train still averaged over 300km/h... that's really consistently fast!!!

I remember more than two decades ago, it took more than 13 hours to travel from Shanghai to Beijing. Now it only takes about 4 hours 🎉

Being is so cold now. I'd stay in southern China, foe example, Yunnan, Guangxi, Hainan, nice and warm, and lots of beautiful places to see.
  • Hello, Ken. It's been in spring festival rush recently, so that's the reason why the cabin was so crowded. Hope you enjoy your trip in China.❤
  • The price of the train ticket is actually the same no matter when you bought the ticket. It's a fixed price decided by the train department to make sure that most people can afford it.

Oh interesting, never thought a travel vlogger had car sick😂. I also get a bit dizzy for train or plane trips over 2 hours, sweet drinks help me feel better.
  • @xklee4979
I hope you can stay longer in China. Xinjiang and Tibet are definitely a good choice.
  • Such a nice warm soft spoken genuine calm vlogger! Good job ken!
  • I traveled from Hong Kong to Beijing by train in 1981 and it was a polar opposite experience. It took a total of 48 hours without AC, shower and a toilet hole where all the human waste went straight down to the track (gross - I know!). By the time I arrived my face was dark because of all the coal and dust from the open windows. Enjoy Beijing. You will have a blast!
