Chase for Amritpal Singh & the growing noise on so-called “Khalistan”are perhaps the biggest news story right now. In Part 1 of Ep 1197, Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta brings an unusual Cut The Clutter, where he revisits, first person, his many interactions as a reporter with Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who built a huge radical campaign without needing to utter the ‘K’ word.

  • @pritamsri
Commendable sharing of experiences with Bhindranwale in person.. I have always felt something different about this interesting person just like how Shekarji expresses it too..!!!
  • There was this hindu saint figure who once talked to Bhindranwale and Bhindranwale showed lots of respect to him.
  • Respected Sir , i was born in Kolkata in 1973 . i was but a child then , when these terrible incidents happened. The day , Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was murdered , i happened to be in school, St Xavier's Collegiate School. The journey home was one i remember to this day , the carnage , the busses that burned ... terrible! i was witness to acts of cruelty and at the same time acts of kindness that knew no bounds ... but that is another story ... Your beautiful presentation provides a vivid description of the events that lead to the day. Especially important is a glimpse into the mind of the person who was responsible , atleast in part for the carnage that followed culminating in the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the riots that saw the brutal massacre of Sikhs , innocent men , who were in no way responsible for the dark events . ... such mistakes are costly, and should be remembered , lest we commit them again ... Awaiting your next episode eagerly ...
  • We should never forget what the army did to the golden temple. One of the biggest atrocities in humanity
  • Thanks SG. Not only today's generation born after 1990s but even those who were around in 1984, these bits of information from the ground speak volumes about the situation on the ground often missing in conventional news reportage.
  • Excellent episode, I am too young to know all this and all I heard were vague accounts..... Plus Shekhar Guptaji is a journalist I grew up reading! This is a treat..... Waiting for Part 2 Sir....
  • @Nanak7878
Binderwala was a typical Jatt Sikh. Casteist and discriminates against anyone different from them.
  • This is such an amazing report and presentation by you. Really engaging and interesting, one of the best I have ever seen. Thank you so much, please keep doing your good work.
  • Wapis kyu dal diya ? Atleast mention that it's a re-upload
  • This is one of the best news trilogies I have ever heard. Please create more such content
  • My fellow commentators: Why NO genocide when Godse killed Gandhi… or Rajiv Gandhi got killed… ? And Genocide happened only for Sikhs?
  • @nee23454
He and indira destroyed peace in punjab .
  • So very nice listening to ShekarGupta the man who has seen first hand information during the troubled times then.. It was A pretty BAD-patch then ..that we the future generations shouldnot forget... Shekarji Thanks Shekar for the elaborate & extensive episode Information & the English language too is so very very very 👍👍👍its lovely listening to ShekarGupta's
  • Temperature and Tone of press should be serious when talking about Panjab it’s not ordinary India it’s different and Separate Culture .
  • I watch almost all of the thePrint videos specially the 'cut the clutter' ones. I think recent episodes are overfocusing on the punjab situation & it's history. It would be great to watch Shekhar ji discuss socio-political conditions of other indian regions, West Bengal & kashmir for example. Thanks.
  • Bhinderanwala pic outsells Bhagat Singh in Punjab, that tells you respect he has earned.
  • To all the friends writing here… try to understand the story of the other side… and few queries: Pointing the statement “Sodh Deo” is considered terror but not when govt or state decides to clear one…? Gauri Lankesh and manyyy others like fake encounters held then n even now adays. There is always something special about any human who has such huge following worldwide.
