We selected 9 of Anand's most beautiful gems and gave those positions to the World Champion Magnus Carlsen. The challenge was to guess who were Anand's opponents in each game and what was the move that was played!
You have to check this video to see how Magnus fared! All we can say is - we are IMPRESSED!

3:45 Giri stealing some spotlight is epic :)
-
Carlsen is almost 100 elo point ahead of Giri OTB. But Giri is 200 ahead of him in trolling. 😂
-
Carlsen: gets 8/9 positions correct Giri: It's embarrassing! Anish would make a great indian mother :D
-
"You studied it?" "Yeah, I came across it."
-
Also Magnus: “I don’t think I have a particularly good memory” If he’s right then I must be already suffering from alzheimer's...
-
wow. unbelievable.. i am leaving chess now.. i cant even remember my own last game. edit : i thought i am the only one😂😂
-
Magnus has had 2 world championship matches vs Anand. With months to prepare he will know his games inside out.
-
For people wondering how Carlsen remembers all these positions. 1. Carlsen was Anand's second during 2010 World Chess Championship 2. Carlsen faced Anand in 2013 and 2014 World Chess Championship 3. He is freaking Magnus Carlsen who memorized all 356 Norwegian municipalities by the age of 5.

Who could ever dislike this video showcasing the incredible memory of the world champion? Probably stockfish, alpha zero and other engines
-
Love Magnus face after Giri's "It's embarrassing!"... Mix of "Oh no. Not that troll again!" and "Be calm, Magnus. Be polite. You're on camera!"
-
this isn't memory, it's real familiarity, like hearing a few bars of a song and knowing what it is and being able to sing the whole thing. He feels games on an emotional level and can recall them like we recall names of people

I just loved that interview. You can obviously see what a tremendous chess enthusiast Carlsen is. Even though he and Vishy were rivals during the World Championship Matches and they still compete against each other on a regular basis, Carlsen doesn’t want Vishy to stop playing because he respects him so much and is thankful for everything he has done for chess in the past and still does nowadays. This video perfectly captures Carlsens immense understanding for the game and just when I thought it couldn’t get any better a wild Giri appeared and trolled Carlsen. Thanks for that video-gem!

his memory also has some drawbacks. when his wife says "I told you to bring out the garbage" he cant say "oh sorry I forgot"
-
I’m gobsmacked. Carlsen’s memory seems to have no “best before” date.
-
His memory is crazy good !! Loving the coverage of this tournament!

Dear Carlsen I have history exam on 2nd of December. Could you appear on my behalf.i would b great ful 2 u.

1:56 = The difference between 2400 FIDE and 2800 FIDE. IM Sagar Shah: This is an anti-positional move. GM Magnus Carlsen: It's not an anti-positional move. It shows wonderful understanding of the game. You need to prevent h3. That's the point.

What a champion. We're living in a privileged time. So much good content being saved now for posterity, which was not the case even 20 years ago. And to have a deserving champ and possible GOAT like Magnus is a treat.
-
For us it's crazy moves, for Magnus it's deep understanding

this guy is genius, I mean this is what dedication looks like
